I thought I remembered somebody here had a kid who enjoyed coins from other parts of the world? Or am I on drugs? Either way, I got one of these for change the other day if somebody is interested.

There's a veteran's quarter similar to this with a poppy in the middle but I don't seem to have one of those to go with. I had one at one time. They don't seem to be in circulation anymore. I remember the veterans were quite offended with how cheap the poppy looked in the middle and I don't blame them. This is kinda the same way but it's something you don't see everyday either.

They beat that ribbon orwhatever it is to death. Everyone is using it for their cause. The greasy spoon I was at the other day had is for "We use Eggs", "I wiped my...", "Blue is blue" and on and on ad infinitum ad ad nauseum.

This is true but one my grandmas and a friend's mom are sporting the "uni-boob" because of this problem so I don't mind supporting it.

Mu mother in law is a non-boob, plus another 17 operations for cutting out cancerous lumps out of her since 1979. But the ribbon useage is way over the top.

That was gio's boy that was interested in coins.

The biggest issue with the veteran's coin is that it wears off almost right away. The were first circulated only out of Tim Horton's. That was another sticking point. If you wanted to get one early, you HAD to go buy something at Tim's. It was wondered if the government was taking advertising money from Tim's for that stunt. Probably not, but no one had the forethought to consider how improprietous it would appear.

Thanks for remembering Shane, actually we just got back from seeing the globetrotters and stopping by a coin store where he picked out a couple of 1800's circulation silver dollars. Is that a sticker they put on or is it painted?.
Either way he would take it and one of those veteran ones if anyone happens to come across with any.
DCF put together a really cool collection for Brandon and his teacher said it was a big hit with the class at show and tell.

I didn't have any or I would have included one.

I've started another little stack. The day that I sent the first batch out, I got a dollar coin with the Olympic symbol on it.

I have a box somewhere here with a bunch of coins from trinidad, Yugoslavia (when it was called that) and some other places as well. I know there are some doubles. They'll go to Brandon as soon as I can dig them up...

It looks to me like a piece of printed fabric glued to the coin or am I incorrect?

I think there's a texture to them but it's in the metal. The one that my wife had showed signs of paint being worn off from jingling around with other coins.

Thanks for the donation Shane, they landed today. We have been working on a bigger display board for next week with that soft rubbery glue so they can be easliy removed when done with the class showings.

Here in the States, I think the pink ribbon is to signify remembrance of the "Yoo-Hoo!" types that died of Anally Inflicted Death Sentence. While I realize that a number of innocents have died from AIDS, here it's a cause celebré with the self-important entertainment idiots who are generally promiscuous drug abusers in the first place, hence the number of them afflicted or dead because of it... Ann Jillian (a star at the time she got ill) gets breast cancer and a double mastectomy, and rates a small paragraph in the back of People Magazine; Magic Johnson nails 2,000 women and gets HIV and it turns into his greatest career move since picking up a basketball.

Nice to see that north of the border they worry about more-significant problems.
