Today marks the 70th anniversary of the dropping of the atomic bomb during World War II.
Chrysler Corporation, run by the intensely patriotic K.T. Keller, had a hand in thecreation of the most powerful bomb ever used in war. In addition to building seven of eight of the aircraft engines used by the bombers, and the car used to ferry one of the test bomb, Chrysler made the bomb’s creation possible by solving an “insoluble” problem and building key uranium-refinery parts quickly and well — so well, in fact, that they were still in use in the 1980s.
