Cheap big-block valve covers!

thats a really nice set of cal customs..and they are "early" cals cause they dont have the pcv spot..remove a 0 off the price and they will sell

Yeah, my wagon didn't even have a PCV valve on it originally. :-D They weren't used across the board in the U.S. until 1964 or '65, so those are definitely at the latest mid-'60s pieces. They're nice, but yeah... they're 10x too much money. I really wanted finned covers for the wagon, so I ended up getting a different set. I didn't want to use the Mickey Thompson covers I already have... I'm not a huge fan of those. I'll probably sell them.

cals imo will ALWAYS be the nicest covers you can get..i say that cause they are useualy without logo..and the ones with pcv valve ares have the lil cal custom medalion that you drill thru for the pcv..keeping a very clean look....i like finned aluminum..but cant stand "advertising" for a company on my engine

if/when i go to putting a bigblovk in something ill be on the hunt for cals..they typicly dont like to leak

These are the ones I bought. I'm not sure who made 'em but they don't have logos. I didn't want logos on the engine either. I'm not crazy about the aluminum pads in the center, but I don't hate them either. I felt the price was decent enough @ $89 shipped to grab 'em rather than keep looking.

Make sure that you install a baffle inside the PCV hole. :hmmm:

Of course!
I'll probably put a baffle under the breather as well. It's got bosses for baffle mounting around all the openings (and the boss that's not drilled).

those are ultra "late" cal's most likely...the idea was you could put your own logos etc on the pad...dont know how many times ive come across the pad style and wondered how hard it would be to mill out the pad into fins

Yeah, I'd be all over those at $100 less. If I was doing something period with a small-block, I'd jump all over these bad boys. Right down the road from you, that pair.

i run those on EVERYTHING...i refuse to run steel covers...i think i own 4 sets

id KILL for a vintage set of ford 312 aluminum...but they are hell to find and when they do pop up are insaity level priced

Moon makes some very nice ones new, but they're higher than the balls on a giraffe, too. I think they're around $250 per pair.

Those are what I have on the Demon. I have a reduced version of the Demon Decal in the pad area. Looks better than plain IMO...

My neighbor has a complete factory Y-block 3-carb set-up. He's a T-bird guy but his oldest one is a '58, which is an FE block. He just likes collecting ford stuff.

theres alot of y block "colectors" and it sucks cause it drives prices into the insanity levels

ive pondered running the "marine" intake many times just for the weird funkyness..and i could plumb the air filter to the factory hood opening

There's a late-'50s Century boat for sale near here that's a Y-block. It needs a restoration, but man... it's really pretty. If I gave a damn about boats at all, I'd probably consider buying it. Alas, I'm nobody's teak refinisher and I don't even have a way to get it to the lake if I did want to go boating. Still, it's just gorgeous if you look at it with an eye for potential.
