Challenger pass

Since the Dart is still in pieces, we went to opening day to, give a hand to my buddy. While we were there we made a pass with the Challenger. It ran
60 ft. 2.38............. tire spin. Even after heating the tires.........
ET.... 13.77
MPH... 103
Just made one pass. With a little work on the launch, likely would run 13.6's....
My buddy ran his best in his Duster, with my old stroker, of, 11.16@122MPH........
Nitrous had him bouncing off the rev limiter so no good passes with the juice. All in all, a good day.

Damn. Here I was, hoping for a video... ;)

Well, Dart or not you at least got to have some fun at the track.

It's an auto. That was kind of a condition, so my better half can wheel it. And she does.
Sorry. No clips today. Kinda of spur of the moment..............
They'll be movies of the dart all summer. Youse will be sick of them I reckon........

I'd imagine shitty rear gears and no limited slip unit in the automatics hurts the 60 ft times. It would be nice to see what a set of 3.90's that the 6 speed 20" wheel cars get would do. My stock truck routinely gets around 2.06 short times, but it has 3.92's and a limited slip unit. Maybe some sticky tires would crutch it well enough to get the short time down, then you could put it in the mid-low 13's.

But then you lose that wonderful top end. I've cracked the 145(MPH), quickly, and with seemingly little effort. This thing has some serious power at 80 and up. These things could run a decent 1/4, with lower gears, but they're at their best on the open road. The drag packs would be the way to go. If you took one of these things out for an extended drive, I think you'd agree................[smilie=::

That's true, but my personal take on it is this: How often do I get the opportunity to accelerate rapidly from a standstill for 1/8th to 1/4 mile at a time, vs how often do I get a chance to run 145+ safely? Something like 100 to one. I can also tell you this: There are guys with programmers on otherwise-stock trucks running to around 140 mph. This is on the '09's of course-a stock earlier one won't have the power to run that fast. Also, I'm sure a challenger handles better at those speeds than a pickup truck, but the trucks are seriously fast when the speed limiter is removed. Myself, I choose to not modify my truck at all, partly for the lifetime powertrain warranty, and partly for the bragging rights of having a stone stock truck that can run 13.70's in good weather.

All a matter of taste I suppose. I'm a little jaded, since I also have a car that makes anything this Challenger do in the quarter, tuned, or otherwise, blahse.

Nice on the use of "Blahse" that may be a nuthouse first! :)
