Unusually warm weather this last autumn allowed me to cruise over to the Yorktown (NY) Cars and Coffee the first week of November in my ‘69. Among the Corvettes, Mustangs, Porsches, and more Corvettes, I spotted this tidy example of a 1970’s GM A-body Colonnade coupe. These cars are rare sights at car shows nowadays. But I did not realize how rare this car was until I spoke with its owner, Phil Roitman of Katonah, NY.

I don't care how rare it is, I think the colonnade styling is ugly. :dgt:

And telling me that the gross hp of the top-dog 455 would be 350 doesn't impress me what-so-ever.

I don't think the lines are all that bad. I rather like the leMans GT and the Laguna version of the Chevelle. It's just that they gave so many of them such ugly faces. Especially Buick and Oldsmobile. Same thing was happening over at Chrysler & Ford at that time. Got much worse just a couple years later in my opinion.

I like it. :)

The early Colannade body looks pretty good to me. When they mucked it up with the four headlamps is when things went bad, style wise.

I've owned a '75 Malibou Classic (one of the nicest riding and handling stockers I've ever driven), a '75 Grand Am and a '76 Cutlass Supreme. They were all very nice cars.
A friend has a '73 Cutlass Supreme that I've lusted over for 20+ years.

Shut up and drink the Colon-Ade! :D

I don't mind the '73 models too much, but they were really the end of the line for GM's performance lineup in both power and appearance. The '74 GSX was a Nova wearing a God-awful Groucho getup and sporting a 250-cube 1-barrel powerplant standard.

Yeah, the '75 Malibu had a 350 2bbl... it was ok, but that's the most that can be said about it. It had those huge bumpers too, but for some reason, they didn't look to bad on the Chevy. The swivel buckets, tilt wheel and console out of a Monte Carlo were just a little bit of alright. ;)
My buddies '73 Cutlass has the small bumpers... and a '67 425 Olds under the hood. :)

There's a really sweet Buick running around town, with some kind of red, white and blue Bicentennial decals on it.
