can anything be done with sprung hood springs?

i have tried numerous sets of hood springs and they all seem to be sprung. when i got my challenger it had a bondoed r/t hood and i traded for a rust free, straight standard hood. ever since i changed hoods no matter what i do the hood does not seem to sit flat with the fenders unless i physically push down at the edges and make it conform. have i just had bad luck with the 3 sets i have tried? is something i am missing? i went out to charge the battery and remembered the pita it is to shut the hood and thought you guys might be able to shed some light on the subject.

Sounds to me like your hinges are out of adjustment.
Try loosening the two rear bolts attaching the hinge to the inner fender and have a buddy push up on the front of the hood (this should lower the hinge at the rear).
Tighten the bolts before your bud's arms fall asleep.

Several tries may be in order before you get "the good fit".
