Bought another Dart........

dustergal

I have serious issues, so I'm
this brings our car count up to eight. :hmmm:

While on vacation to the Upper Peninsula (we went car hunting on vacation, how sad) we found this little girl. A little rust in the lower quarters but solid otherwise. They don't salt the roads up there. yay!

'65 Dart 270, slant six, three on the tree manual, power nothing. Drum brakes, manual steering. Candy cane molding in the trunk, dented but there.

My 12 year old daughter's 27" long Northern Pike that she caught at her grandma's house:

Bridge to da Uppa....eh?

Grand Hotel, Mackinac Island. Still the tourist trap I remember as a child, but we had to take the kids there. And it is beautiful. They went swimming in Lake Huron and we biked the whole island.

Whitefish Bay, Lake Superior, only a few miles from the Edmund Fitzgerald wreck.

Ya gotta love that shift knob.
Reminds of years ago some guy had a big metal chrome ball on his column shifter. The knob was so heavy that if he was cruisin' in 2nd gear and backed off the gas it would drop into neutral. :bwuhaha:

Haha!......We had a three-on-the-tree pickup and we dropped it off to get new tires put on it and the kid working there had no idea how to drive it. :D

How far into the UP did you make it? Did you go to the Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point? The bell from the Fitzgerald is displayed there. Fascinating stuff.

Oh, they salt the roads up here... plenty. Trust me on this. Cars in that kind of shape are a rare find in the UP.

Cool ride. Stretch is going to be jealous.

We made it to Lake Superior, Whitefish bay, and the Soo Locks. We were going to hit the Shipwreck Museum but the kids ran out of steam. :D Next time for sure.

Sorry, I did make it sound like we found the car in the U.P. but we found it 'en route near my mother-in-law's house, not far from Mt. Pleasant. It sat outside for 15 years and has snow tires all the way around it. :D

not my fav nose but definatly my fav dart body

damn the ship wreck museum would have been fun while i was up that way....i wont ever forget that bridge..it was stormin like a bitch when we crossed it

It was swaying even on a mild sunny day when we crossed it.....of course Piggy had to tell the kids about the cars that blew off it. Exaggerating just a bit, of course.

So you did live near the Soo?? Piggy said he thought you did. LOL...that was the first time he has EVER been in the U.P!

Sounds like a great vacation! And nice score on that Dart! I saw one in one of the rags with a 3.9/auto OD, but what do you have planned for it?

My Duster is getting a little quick to be racing it constantly without a cage....and I don't want to cut it up. Gretchen (the Dart) will be my next race car. It will be mini-tubbed, caged, and probably big block powered. Might start with a small block, who knows? First we have to finish our daughter's truck project, then maybe over winter or next spring we'll start on this new project.

btw....paid $500 for it, for as clean as it is I'm happy.

i like the big a-108 looking nose on those with the trim under the back windows best..

it will make a hell of a drag car

Cripes. I heard it before I was logged in. :D :D

Nice score, DG.

I know it's not the same but looking at that makes me miss my dad's 63 Dodge 330.
