Jules Bianchi’s No. 17 will be retired from Formula One use, according toJean Todt, president of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).
Mr. Todt was among the mourners at Bianchi’s funeral, held today at Sainte Reparate Cathedral in Nice, France.
Mr. Bianchi, a Formula One driver with strong ties to Ferrari, died early Saturday morning of injuries suffered at the Suzuka Grand Prix last October. He was the first Formula One driver to die because of a racing accident since Ayrton Senna in 1994. (See the Allpar story)
Also in attendance were a number of Bianchi’s fellow drivers including world champions Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, and Alain Prost. Sebastian Vettel, a four-time world champion and Ferrari’s leading driver in the 2015 season, was one of the pallbearers. (...) →
