Best Buy's Geek Squad

Like mentioned in the comments, it's a common theme with any technology be it cars, appliances, or computers. there are folks and companies who are knowledgeable and willing to help for a fair price, and then there are knowledgeable bullshit artists out to rip them off. And far to many "do it youselfers" who create work for the previous.

Much like the fear of new cars has driven away the backyard mechanic the fear of computers makes rational people seek outside assistance. A ripe area to pluck unsuspecting prey.

'tis why I've always refused payment for computer services for friends and family.
I'll let them get me something for the bar or some other sort of return of the favour.
But I feel that as soon as I take money, then I'm on the hook for something.
I'd rather just do the favour with the chance that it will be returned in some other form.
and, sometimes, I'm returning a favour..

I'm the same way. Friends always offer to pay me for certain things and I always refuse. They usually end up buying me lunch or a couple beers down the road and that works just fine for me! ;) Hell I don't even like taking gas money usually unless the trip requires more gas than I have in the tank.
