Might I suggest a built big-block Olds with four downdraft Webers where the back seat used to reside, backed up with a full-manual TH425 with around 3500 stall, adapted to a Porsche 930 suspension all the way around?

Oh, wait... that's been done. :D

I went to the Bug-nationals here at S.I.R. years ago (well when it was still Seattle International Raceway) and I saw one Bug launch so hard it actually jumped strait up in the air before it took off. It was stock-looking too, damnedest thing I ever saw. I know it wasn't a V-8 because of the sound but he ran something like a low 14.

First car I've ever worked on where I found tub & tile silicone used to seal up "patches". 'Course the patches were aluminum, fastened with pop rivets.

I have seen one with a Caddie 500 shoehorned in there, looked bone stock till you peeked in the window....[smilie=2:

Since the Pro Bug look is out, I've been busy fitting a lot of sheetmetal.
Some parts OEM from Mexico, some from Brazil, some from Italy, some original equipment.
Getting it all to fit is not easy. I've had the parts on and off so many times, I should be using wingnuts instead of bolts.

This sucker is gonna fit better than anything VW ever produced.:bravo:
