B.S. or?

It's BS. Having the air hitting a swirling propeller thngy above your carb won't help with gas mileage.

Send it into mythbusters! Let them prove it true or false.

I helped build one of those designs yrs ago for a scout 4 cylinder 2wd that got 70 mpg.Basically a sponge type deal that the gas is poured onto and then evaporates into the intake. We built it out of abs first and then cut it in half and made a mold to pour molten aluminun into.Worked ok,sluggish and dont backfire it or it goes BOOM! I think that the ones you see on tv are bs.
I do believe there are many more efficient ways of running motors. I think that the oil companies own us, and they know it.

I have vapor proof that they do work. Bigfoot and the Tooth Fairy were working on their UFO when the Easter Bunny couldn't find the right aileron shaft hummer for the interociter. So they both inhaled gasoline and using their kungs gave a fine mist into the chrome reverse dipsticks twice side by each. The result was two parsecs past the left nipple. Unfortunately the written records were last seen being eaten by the Loch Ness monster and Twiggles. A non-existant backup copy is being delivered by Elvis in a fire retardant Pinto.

Do you not really think that one of the automotive companies would use slightly better mileage to sway some buyers their way? And wouldn't the competition up the ante a bit? This would lead to a mileage war and it would lead to the upper limit of this amazing amount.
Why would Ford and GM hemmorage vehicle sales to the point of bleeding red ink for the sake of keeping mileage to themselves. Their biggest profit generators are the SUVs and loss of those sales hurt. And what sales get dropped soon as fuel goes up in cost?

It's the evil triumvirate: Oil, Autos, and Rubber. That's why they quit using trolley cars here in the US and the reason why the Interstate system got built.

Ummm...... Step right up here and get your hip wadders!!! get'm there going fast!!!! dont be with out them!!!

actually I am sure that there has been some designs the people have been given lots of money so they would be lost I dont know if they would be 100's of mpg but I do believe the oil companies spend some money to protect them selves

[smilie=r: Some of the stuff you come up with....

Have you tried to purchase a rebuild kit for a holley economaster?I was told the oil companies bought them all and burned them. [smilie=e:

i think if you put an 18 inch fan on the back of your car and have it blowing behind you ....i bet you could get better fuel economy [smilie=e:

I'm pretty sure they were discontinued due to slow sales since the carbs didn't sell much either... much in the same way the far-superior 4010/4011 Holleys were disco'd since people weren't used to them and therefore didn't buy. Best damned aftermarket carb ever, in my opinion.

This all goes back to the 100MPG carb, conspiracy theories, and so much other bunk. Let's face it... if the oil companies were buying up the technology for super fuel mileage, we wouldn't be seeing the current influx of hybrids and electrics. Everyone likes to think Big Oil has the world by the short hairs, which they really don't. If sales go down, prices go up. No big deal to them. The only vehicular effect Big Oil has had (and only partially) is that cars aren't governed to the speed limit yet... and the other half of that not happening is the states' reliance on revenue from speeding tickets.

Besides, we all know insurance companies run America.

Refresh my memory...was this the "spreadbore" carb?

(Suppose I could go out to the garage & get my Holley book...but this is easier...)
