(Attention Foggy) The Car From Hell........

Well, hello fellow 'Nuts. Some months back, you will recall that I posted about a '68 Satellite that my hubby was to install a crate motor into. We picked up the engine (for the owner) from Foggy, who had won it at Moparfest last year. So, over the course of the past few months, Mike has encountered more than a few problems with this project, and it has now been (affectionately?) named "The Car From Hell", or, alternately, "Christine". First off, the so-called "installation manual" that came with the engine, doesn't really lend itself to installing this engine in an older car, and doesn't address some of the problems that were encountered. Also, there were several problems with the car itself that had to be remedied.........the brakes were completely redone, including new lines front to back, complete new exhaust system, incuding electric "dumps" that the owner purchased and wanted installed, and there was a weird problem with the shifter (auto, column) which meant Mike had to remove the steering column and take it apart to fix.

Well, some 7 mths later, this project IS FINALLY DONE!!!!! Mike is very pleased with how it came out, the engine runs like a top, and, after a few check out passes up and down our road, in Mike's own words, "it's a WEAPON!!" (In a good way. :giggedy:) So, the owner will be picking it up Saturday night, and, needless to say, he's VERY excited. I hope he doesn't get too excited.....he's in his 60s!!!! I, for one, can't wait to see it's taillights going out the driveway, cuz right away my Valiant has to come over to that side of the garage to have the tranny pulled.........the clutch is finally toast, and we're leaving for Carlisle on July 8th. We are trailering it down, but will be driving it around down there.

Anyway, here are a few shots of the Satellite and said crate engine. :bravo:

That sure is a "colorful" car......

Yeah, well, it's a long story! It will eventually be Hemi orange. That was one of the things Mike had to do, paint the engine bay. Had to talk the owner into it, he wasn't going to bother. DUH..........engine is out, isn't that the ideal time to do it??? He also painted the underside of the deck lid, the inside of the trunk was done previously (part of the long story). :wtf:

Glad to hear everything finally went well! Should be a nice ride when the dust settles.........:)

OH yeah!! It definitely will. Would you believe the very last problem with the car was that the brake lights won't work?? So, Mike has finally traced it down to the turn signal switch, and the car will stay here a few more days so he can fix that. Sigh.... well, ya gotta have brake lights....... :shifty:

Satellite and Valiant will switch places in the garage for now so that tranny can come out........:doubt:
