[smilie=a: We have a 200 gallon tank in the wall that's been empty for a few years(my fault [smilie=e: ). Anyway I decided to fill it today to see if it still holds water. The reason I don't want it is because it butts into the garage quite a bit. The wife lived here first so I'll redo it for her, that's the kind of guy I am. [smilie=e:
I'm am doing it as cheaply as I can and want to get fish that aren't so touchy to temp changes. Got some reading to do but does anyone else have a tank?
Here's where I'm at so far. Gotta put some more color in it and get rid of the underwater pump but the water cleared up nice.

And here's the reason I hate it so much! [smilie=e:

My brother in law just built a huge mother into his basement wall. His is saltwater...is yours?

And DD, this is not the h-section. ;)

Wow, that's a big tank. I like it.

We've only got a 30 gallon freshwater with one Oscar in it, he's about 8 inches long and really needs a bigger tank if we want him to grow bigger. He is one cool fish, we hand feed him minnows and worms, along with his regular fish food. If you look at him through the glass, he comes right up and wags his tail. He's very entertaining and easy to take care of. Here's his picture:

Mine's gonna be freshwater I think it's easier. I wanted to move it to the basement, the back wall is right up to the laundry area where I could clean and change the water when needed but the boss doesn't want to move it. [smilie=e:
Cool Oscar! [smilie=e:

I used to have fish, till my tank started to smoke and almost went on fire when I was sleeping :D. I was around 10 - 12. Was the filter that went haywire. I had a few gold fish, the bottom fish that clean your tank, forgot the name.
You have a lot of room and could really have a nice set up. I would go to the local pet store and see what they got, and see what kinda fish you can mix together and what not.

Some ammo to use against your boss, tell her its cheaper to heat the tank at 75-80 in the winter if its in the basement [smilie=e: even thought it looks well insulated, shhhh

Good excuse for putting heat in the garage! [smilie=e:
Too bad I have to go outside just to change my mind. [smilie=e:

I was into this years ago. had almost everything freshwater.
the toughest fish I experienced were goldfish. laugh, but these things can stand temp changes, filthy water anything! [smilie=a: I would suggest, an Oscar. They're major characters and pretty tough. the less you have, the less chance of disease spreading. you probably know all this, so. [smilie=e:
Cichlides are hardy too and are vast in varities.

I heard goldfish are tough because they poop a lot and it's tough to keep clean. Her ex had set it up and he had regular stream fish, bass, catfish an eel ect. in there and they were a pain too. [smilie=e:

got a 30 gallon, no fishies tho. Had a baby alligator in it, but once that croaked we put our snakes in there. Two ball pythons, one's about one foot and the other is about 3 foot.

I've been trying to talk her into making it like a desert with sand, critters, a couple of ken dolls on horses dressed up like John Wayne. [smilie=e:

That reminds me, I had some guy blowing his horn at me and yelled, HEY, didn't you see the arrows? I yelled back, no, I didn't even see the Indians!!

I had 2- 10 gallon and one 50 gallon aquariums at one point (all freshwater). Toughest fish I had was a lil catfish I had gotten at Wal-Mart. I think he lived for like 7 years.

BTW Russ, Where in PA are you? Im just south of Carlisle in Shippensburg, aka the college party capital of the world [smilie=a:

You can throw a catfish in the freezer for a month and it will come back sometimes. Same with some snakes Ive been told. [smilie=e:

fISHY SUBJECT

I HAVE A 75 GALLON FRESHWATER SETUP. MY PERSONAL OPINION ON FISH THAT CAN HANDLE DIFFERENT TEMPERATURE XTREMES IS TO LOOK INTO SOME KOI THEY COME IN ALL VARIATIONS OF ORANGE,BLACK,WHITE AND CAN GET RATHER LARGE GIVEN THE ROOM WHICH IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE YOU WILL ALSO NEED SOME BOTTOM FEEDING CATS.AND IF YOU CAN FIND THEM, BOTIAS THE TRICK TO KEEPING FISH IS GOOD FILTERATION& AERATION HOPE THIS HELPS GOOD LUCK WITH THE TANK AND THE BOSS VALIANTMAN GET IN SIT DOWN SHUT UP AND HANG ON

Maybe I should raise flounder or grouper, mmmm, love flounder![smilie=e:

Here's one without the flash with the tank lights on. Looks greener in the pic than it really is, it has a green background.
