Another one gone

My second cousin owns and operates one straight north of Carlyle, he actually does not too bad at it, local car clubs attend and have outtings there I guess.

There was one at the lake 3 miles from my house for years and it's completely gone now too. :(

Our's been gone many year now :( , A Best Western and a truck stop/convenience store reside there presently.

Back in the days of youth many a malted beverage was consumed in the back row and rides in the trunk where always good for a giggle or two..:shifty:

Wifey n' I went several times a summer. Only way to go out to a movie if you ask me. No loudmouth teenagers or screaming kids to ruin the movie for you - one can actually hear the dialogue, particularily with the FM radio feed replacing them gawdawful tinny speakers.

Technology is swell, but young folks are missing out on a lot of fun cool stuff these days...'course maybe I'm just sentimental 'cuz I worked at the drive in briefly back in Yorkton.

...Also spent a night in jail because of that Yorkton drive in...but that's another story...

BTW - the gentleman who ran the place that they interview in the article Flamin' Head attached is the President of my car club.

I remember that. I thought it would have been gone long before you would have been old enough to remember it...

There was also a good One at Crystal Lake.

That's where I saw Natural Born Killers and a few other movies...I know at one point it too was on the chopping block. I forget what saved it though.

fishy you sure you didnt see it at the old beaverton drive in?...or the old tigard drive in?....cause as far as i know the old 99w one out in newberg has NEVER been on the block

funny things drive-in's...they say that "kids" are into the bells and whistles(that useualy means monster car systems)..what better way to watch a movie that with a car system that kicks ass...my 600w setup i had in the ramcharger with 3 15's and 4 4.5's was a F-ing blast at the drive-ins with the 15s beind the front seat if it was a pounding movie like godzilla you FELT everything..also what better use for a convertable could there ever be than a hot drive in night?

The one in the Kingsford area was there until a couple years ago, when a tornado finally did enough damage to it to knock it down. It hadn't been open for years due to slow business. No kidding... the doofuses weren't running "drive-in" type movies. The kind of people that enjoy movies like Ordinary People and The Elephant Man (a double feature they actually ran when I was a kid) generally don't want to see them in the great outdoors.

Stuff like Star Wars, Jurassic Park, or even Die Hard would be fun movies to see with 69.58897231's big system and huge visuals. The morons that ran ours would probably be running Brokeback Mountain... just what the world needs more of: 30-foot-tall gay cowboys.

There was a girl in my home town that was so dumb you could take her to the Drive in to watch "Closed For The Season".
