And how about the West Coasters?

That earthquake was a ways up the coast, and didn't seem to do much damage, but is everyone okay?

I'd prefer higher ground to drowned. :D

Yeah, the media makes much of stuff like this, but at the same time if they didn't they'd be accused of not doing enough. It's a double-edged sword.

my girl is up in metchosen and never felt a thing...but ive got friends down on some of the islands between BC and WA and they felt a smidge of it...but yeah nothing notable happened....but bc island is basicaly a slab of bedrock

Vancouver Island basically protects the mainland and I think the fault line runs along the outside edge of the island. I work at the head of a River, basically at sea level, so if the big one hits, I'll probably be sinking or swimming. It's the risk of soil liquefaction that concerns me. Hmm... maybe I'll carry a boogie board on my back for just such an occasion :D

No I think he was just making the point that the fault line, which is on the west side of the island, is where the earthquake would originate. He probably works in Surrey, Delta, Richamond, Burnaby area?

Yeah a lot of those areas are built on silt. If the big jiggler comes through it will pull the water up through the soil and turn it to jelly...sinking huge areas!!

Cow is right, I'm in the Delta/Surrey/Richmond area :) Hmm... where's a good place to get decent but cheap tires in the Lower Mainland. Anyone know?
