Almost time to wake MAXIMVS

from his slumber since April. Been a long hot summer here. Been busy with family and work, so not much time to play with the big dog. Was supposed to do a full test/tune day this last friday but my sister was visiting from AR so I had to take her fishing. Looks like my next opportunity will be a short test/tune night next wednesday or saturday/sunday. The Nostalgia drags at Bradenton are 11/4 & 11/5, but that is the same weekend as the Garlits deal at his museum, have to make a choice here. I haven't tested the car with the TeamG and 1050 Dominator yet, this will be the first outing. Should be interesting. I'm still working a deal for a 64 Savoy or a 64 Belvedere, they are both good platforms that require the same amount of work, The 64's will allow me to make a NSS legal hemi car. According to Mark, I can change the front fenders, grille and tail lights on MAXIMVS to 64 stuff and the car will be legal with a hemi. That may work, I hate the idea of selling the 63. On the other hand, if I do a 64-65 from the ground up that would be OK too, I like to build 'em. Decisions, decisions.

Hey what exactly is the Garlits deal and would meeting a fellow nut help your decision to go there?

I'm going! Took the week of the 6th off and I'm going to take the 'ol vert out for its first long drive in a while! Woah...that's 303 miles! At 10 mpg, and 2.50 a gallon... hmmmmmmmm not too bad at all! Wish I had cruise control...lol

Yep, it's up on eBay, but I don't think it will sell for what I want to get for it. I've already located a nice 64 Savoy roller if the car sells. I hate to sell it, but if I have one last car left in me, I want to build a NSS legal hemi car.

I cant blame ya if you want to build a Hemi car. And the 64 Ply is my favorite of the SS Hemi cars next to the 68 Cuda's and Dart's. And 64 was the only year you can do a Hemi or wedge car. Definetly cool cars Snook but the 63 is still my favorite looking of all. Good luck with it. Ron

Well, the car didn't come anywhere near the reserve I had on it, but the eBay advertisement was great. I have a few offers local and a few from overseas, but I think at this time, that I'm just going to keep the car and pick up a 64 Savoy/Belvedere as a second project when I relocate. I'm still running the car on Cars On Line as that is a run till sold ad. One thing is for sure, I've got too much blood and $$$ into MAXIMVS to let the car go for the heck of it. I'll be starting the search for a 64 front end here in a few months.

Right now I'm working direct for a nuclear public utility at fair but not great $$$. Prior to that I worked for 20 years as a contractor (road whore) and that pays MUCH better. Anyway, nuclear plant construction is going to go nuts for the next ten years and I plan on being a part of it and then it's retirement for me. The timing is perfect.

So lemme get this straight,..you're selling MAXIMVS?? Didn't you just get the dash signed by Don Garlits? :wtf: Wow. Well I hope you get what you want for it!

The car will not sell for what it would take for me to part with it. The only partial trade I will consider is for a 64 Savoy/Belvedere post roller car with minimal rust. That probably won't happen either. In all likelihood, I'll have the car for a LONG time. Barring someone who just has to have it and will pony up, the car will stay. If it is still here by this upcoming May, it will never leave. I'll buy a 64 outright and do the 63 over with stagger stack injectors. The 64 will get a NSS legal hemi and be a street/strip legal C/NSS car.
