All that, and unsafe, too!

I know this really belongs in the eBay forum, but good God: Kelsey-Hayes recall wheels

Isn't there some kind of law preventing the sale of items recalled for safety reasons? [smilie=e: There should be.

I thought about bidding, then retracting my bid saying "I thought that said 120.00". :D Dude's also trying to get $4500 for a '75 Cougar. [smilie=e:

For a trailer queen that originally came with those wheels, I don't have a problem with it. If some yahoo wants to drive around with them, that's a different story. Either way, $12k is a lot of coin for what are, in all reality, some ugly-a$ wheels. Heck, I'd sell my entire Scamp for $12k.

People use them on museum cars and trailer queens.

But ya know, someone is repopping them now - in a safe version.

How does this guy figure he's gong to get that kind of money when one could go and get a brand new set for a fraction of what he's asking - and actually use them.

I suppose if I had a museum piece that came with those wheels originally, I'd have a knot of cotton between my cheeks right now, but it still doesn't make a lot of sense in my book.

*watches to see who wins and starts collecting "NOS brake dust" to offer up*

not the greatest looking wheels but for a car thats never going to be driven..i guess i can understand it but not at 12k

so why were they recalled?..i knew at one point but have since forgotten

They would crack for no darn good reason - well I guess being poorly CAST is a good enough reason to crack.

The lugs would loosen and the centers would then break out between the lug holes... as long as you don't mind stopping every 150 miles to tighten the lugs, they're fine. :D
