A question for Cow

Stretch

Hey! There’s no easy button for a body like this!
Or anyone else who might have an idea.

A friend of my dads has a '49 dodge. He is looking for front coil springs and we can't seem to find any. He said he checked with a few places including Kanter with no luck. I called the spring shop I used to work for and it doesn't sound good from them either. Thanks in advance.

Try Eaton Spring or Rare Parts, Inc. Eaton can probably make them from original blueprints. They used to be Year One's coil-spring vendor. According to their site, they have over 24,000 original manufacturer's blueprints. That should about cover it. :D

I don't know if Rare Parts does springs, but they actually made--yes, made--a pitman arm for a '73 Mustang a customer of mine in Escanaba needed. That part literally did not exist at the time, but they had a factory blueprint and sent one. It was perfect, and the price was reasonable. These are the guys to see if you need chassis parts made of unobtainium, and the prices were damned reasonable, too. I think the customer's final cost including shipping was under $100, and we made decent margin on the part. I can't say enough good things about Rare Parts.

You're welcome.
