Wow. I just had a pretty decent MOPAR day for a day in December in Canada.
I had to scoot up to Toronto for a meeting at Ontario Place.
I made it there fine, but felt a little green waiting for things to start. So, I bailed and headed home.
Anyway, on the way to T.O. I cross the Burlington Skyway. I was about half way up and I hear this high revving engine coming up from behind. I check the mirrors just in time to see a Porsche zooming up the bridge in the right hand lane. An 06 Charger was hot on it's heels.
They stayed close until they got to the bottom of the bridge and the Porsche left him.
Before I got to the meeting, I cruised the Lakeshore a bit because I was too early. While doing so, I saw an 06 Charger cruiser done up in pursuit mode - black with tinted windows, blacked out grille, black steelies and black sidewalls. Looked MEAN!
Shortly after that I saw a 66 2-door Fury III scooting along the Lakeshore viaduct. I got up beside them and gave them a thumbs up. They did not look like your typical MOPAR type personalities - guy had a camel hair coat buttoned right up to the collar, a scarf underneath that, thick-rimmed square glasses, slicked back hair and medium sideburns. Real artsy, big city dweller looking kind of guy. I didn't get a good look at the girl but the general impression was similar - artsy fartsy. Got me thinking if they'd part with that car without thinking twice. It wasn't perfect, but I didn't see any rust. It was running well, too.
After that I turned around and headed to my meeting. I was still early. So, I waited around. People started showing up but no one I really knew. I started to get a little queasy and generally uncomfortable. So, I left.
On my way home, my wife called and asked me to delay my arrival so she could get some presents wrapped.
So, I swung off the highway and took some back roads home.
I ended up stopping at the Canadian Tire in Grimsby. Nothing there I needed. So, heading back out towards home on Old Highway Eight part of the Niagara Wine Route, I saw an 06 Charger done up as a Niagara Regaionl Police cruiser. First one I've seen.
I then came upon a TSC Store. I've never been in one, but I've seen some of their flyers. So, I swung in to the parking lot and went in to check it out. Headed right over to the tool section and picked up a few things that were on sale. Nothing exciting, but good deals. Then I did a quick tour of the rest of the store just see what was there.
When I got the the toy section, I just about messed myself. They have a whole section of Johnny Lightning stuff and I found 5 MOPAR cars in perfect condition. I scooped them all up. They had a stack of 1:18 scale 69 RoadRunners, too.
Not a bad day at all.
