Got the 406 running in the Dart today and it sounds great. So I got the first drive and then Ron Jr pictured here got to drive it. And you can see by the smile how he liked it. All I can say is where the 383 fell off this baby comes alive. Here he is and a pic of that stock looking 383 with silver heads. ET 's will be coming real soon. Ron

Nice clean installation Ron [smilie=e: You're a sneaky fellow...that 383 piepan cover on the aircleaner should throw off the brand X boys for awhile, lol !!!

Jr. is indeed a lucky young man, for having such a sweet ride and for having a Dad that supports/encourages his Mopar interests. Congrats to both of you....that car is gonna rock.....you'll be needing a rollbar soon. Sub 11.50's should be "no problemo" with that combo. [smilie=e:

Ps. How do ya like the Dynamic 9.5 ? Got one for mine but haven't driven it yet. A buddy has one behind a mild 440 and i liked the way it felt. Pretty efficient unit at low speeds...didn't feel much different than a stock converter.

Ron that Dynamic 9.5 convertor drives and feels great. I told Shawn to let it flash between 4200 and 4500 and yes it feels almost like a stock convertor when you put it in gear. But you know its not or the idle would drop much lower. [smilie=e: You can really tell when you snap it cruising in third gear about 30 mph how it has much more flash then the TA tight 10" 3000 did. But driving normal it dont have slippage and feels great. I will definetly be using one in my 63. Oh and if the dist was in the rear I would have used a 273 pie pan. [smilie=b: Ron

This probablly sounds like a stupid question,But what do convertors do exactly.I've never really heard anything about them [smilie=e:

Thanks for the report Ron. I'm looking forward to driving mine...glad i went with the 9.5 dynamic allthough i had been considering the 10in tight TA. My 446 made peak TQ at 4400 so i kinda felt the TA wouldn't give me enough stallspeed for the engine combo. How's the idle quality with the mp557 in a 406....is it much different than the 484 ? I'm wondering if the wider lobe centers tame it down noticably as well as the 23 additional cubes. Just curious as to what your impressions are. I'm sure it likes to rpm a lot more with the solid [smilie=e:

Actually the idle is only just a tad lopier. It makes a nice street combo as it has a nice lope that we like but not enough to throw the car all over. I personally love it. Easy to drive with and much more powere then the .484. Ron

That's what i figured...thanks for the report Ron. Greg, are you hearing this ? I've been trying to talk Greg into a solid for awhile now but he luvs his 509...sounds like a beach boys song or something, lol !!

Wow that looks great! Did you drill those holes in the air cleaner? [smilie=e:

Wow looks good :)

Have you put any traffic miles on it ? The only down side to a loose converter is heat, what size trans cooler did you run. How many RPMs to you figure you loose to slipage at 55 MPH.

Great work, did your son do his share? My son will start a project and then loose interest expect me to complete it. My daughter always keeps going til the car is back up. ( she drives a dart )

Yes I did drill the holes in the air cleaner for more air. I rolled the lip on the baseplate and it cut some of the air off so I wanted it to get more air for street driving. No problems with heat using this Dynamic 9.5 convertor and a nice cooler like we use. It does not have alot of slippage when cruisin. And it will flash nice when you nail it from a stop. Thats why I like it so much. Its such a nice driver. Oh and yes Ron Jr did alot of the work. Here is a pic I took yesterday as we pulled the valve covers and headers off to retorque the heads and I readjusted the valves. Ron
