904 fluid question.

In the '67 Fish, 69 isn't sure what fluid he put in. there's ATF+3 and Type F. It's actin low and we're not sure what to put in it and he says one is better to mix with the other than vise-versa? Any suggestions? It only really has very minor issues when gettin on it coming out of a turn, so it's not too bad....yet.

That's what I thought but if I remember correctly, the last time him and I talked about it he rejected that idea for some reason.

Type F is thinner if I remember correctly, and I'm pretty sure I was told it the cheap replacement for the B&M "Trick Shift"

see thats kinda what i remember too is type F being the firmer shifting better stuff to use? and that 1 can be mixxed into the other but not recomended to mix the other way around...and i "thought" f int atf was ok but atf into f was bad?

which fluid will net the harder shifts?...maybe its time to just crack it open

Pure Type F is the only way to go. B&M Trick Shift is Type F, with some supposed enhancements.

I would drain the trans and converter, and put in straight Type F. It's been a Torqueflite "speed secret" for over 40 years, and the trans will actually last longer as well as perform better.

belive it or not doc this is still the original trans with a backyard shift kit...10-1 odds are type f is whats in it..wish there was a way to tell for sure...guess a drain and fill is in order

I believe it... however, if it's the original fluid there's no way it's got ATF+3 in it. That didn't appear until the mid-90s. Prior to that, though Mopar had their own part number, spec, etc. it was just Dexron I/II/III in the bottle. Chrysler never used Type F, and warned against mixing it into trannies filled with factory fluid. I honestly doubt it would really hurt much if anything, but I wouldn't do it anyhow.

it got a filter and flush umm....too long ago to remember..probably back when i was racing it down at the track...thus why ive forgotten what fluid is in it.....6 or more 7-1/4 rears 2 engines a shattered k member and full front end later and that trans still goes strong
