80's Dodge Ram

Drowning deep in my sea of loathing...so I'm
Looking for some conformation on interchangability of the 80's dodge ram suspension parts.

I'm pretty sure they didn't change much from the late 70's on up through to the 90's. The reason I ask is I stopped in to see a local mopar parts guy today, hadn't been by his place in a couple years. So we start talking and we go out and look at a beauty of a project he has, a "Canadian" 33 plymouth 5 window coupe with a 330 desoto hemi and 3 speed manual gear box...all there and rust free, lowered over frame, chopped etc....not running but a damn good starting point...wish I had the $12K for it....:(

But I digress, anyway I was about to leave when he asks about my dodge ram, blah, blah, blah and when I tell him it's a 3/4 ton he says he has a truck for me. So out back again and he shows me a 82-ish? dodge ram 3/4 ton long box, just like mine, missing tranny and heads...bottom end is toast on the 360. But this guy he got the truck from was so anal about his truck and replaced everything with NEW parts....the front end is almost all new...not new bushings and ball joints but new upper control arms with all new bushings etc. Same with the rear Dana 70...all brand new with less than 1000 miles on it. New dual exhaust, factory propane truck, Mint rust and dent free long box and tailgate...etc.

So he tells me he needs it out of his yard in the next couple weeks and that since I'm about the only guy he knows who could use the parts he said I could have the hulk for $500!!

I want to jump all over this since I was planning on new dual exhaust this year, and that would be around $500. Then all the new rotors and calipers and suspension, new long box etc...for me this truck could potentialy save me big $$$.

So will this stuff work for my 87 ram??

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it will. I'd have to check to be sure, but I think they're essentially identical from around '75-'76 until the end in '93.

It would cost $500 just to go through the Dana completely.

I agree with Jass, that should, for the most part, all be the same. If you got the room and the $500, go for it. Of course if your wife is like mine, you'll have to hear about an "old truck in the yard"[smilie=f:
I have parts catalogs on CD that I would copy for you to cross check with.
Get it stripped down then send to the scrap yard and get what you can there. You do realize that once it's gone, your going to need something off the truck that you didn't get.
