74 E-Bodies Still Affordable?

I have been getting the bug to build an e-body, but the 70.71 prices are out of hand.

Are the 73/74 prices better?

Depends upon the size of your hand, if its large & it cant be closed because you have a very thick wad of BIG bills in it then your fine, get what you want!other wise get what you can afford now & then throw about the same amount of money at it over the next few years! [smilie=e: Rich.

E-body and affordable in the same sentence? [smilie=e: I've noticed that even the '72-74 cars are getting a little stupid in prices. Same goes for parts for them.

yessum, i tried to find me a 72 then 73 then 74 challenger. I gave up because my wallet was too thin.

so i spent all my money on a bigger wallet [smilie=e:

Yep, flipped my 74 Challenger for way more than I thought it was worth. Rusted firewall didn't faze the buyer, That said it still sits in his backyard uncovered doing the "I'll restore it later schtick".

Well the good part is it's now in his yard & you have the cash in hand(well maybe not, but the runner is a hands down better deal!) [smilie=e: Rich.

I'ts becomeing a problem that no one asked for.

I don't even have a car, but I pay lots of attention to prices and such, and I have noticed that even "garden-variety" early cars are getting sort of rediculous.

But, if you can pull it off, by all means, go for it.

There is a /6 70/71 Dart 2 door locally here
for sale. Body is pretty decent, some left quarter panel work done, it seems to run decently ( have seen it on the road), asking price is $650.00. [smilie=e:

Hmmmm seems that everyone is correct... Oh, I'm sure with enough looking I might find a Barracuda or Chally worth picking up, but after a little tour through E-bay....woooohoooo! Those parts aren't made out of gold, they are lovingly hand-crafted from pure diamond!

Where was that Dart?

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I picked up my 74 barracuda for $1000 and it is a one family car ....... unfortunately some original fenders that were in restorable shaped cost me almost $1000 shipped to me and I still have to strip weld and paint them

Tigger,

That's what I mean. I can probably find the 1 or 2K beater and then spend multiple years and many thousands to bring it back, but after doing a little research, I fell I can have just as much fun with a big-block Dart ragtop. I can probably find a 383 Dart ragtop in decent shape for a fraction of what even a 318 Barracuda would cost to both acquire and restore.

And yes, Cudas are cool, but I don't think I'll miss much if I get a nice ragtop big block Dart...with a/c...

These are good problems.....

Yea DT, but that was in your family!!!!
There are deals out there, just gotta be lucky & find someone who has one & is in the dark ages(not browsing ebay to see if his gold mine went up) but there getting scarcer buy the day & the reserves are getting crazy on the cars & the parts, I wonder how long they will sit on unsold parts waiting for that guy with the fat wallet to see his part??? Rich.
I just got a new ebrake assembly , lost a bid on a used one, it went for 3x's the price, there was no pic & part was not named in the description, so I guess nobody looked(cept me) well now when it arrives I will know if I was lucky or not(right part??? new???) we will see!
