63 DODGE TRUCK BB CONVERSION 4 SPEED AUTO??HELP

LAWFISH

"A MOPAR FOR EVERY MOOD"
Hey gang maybe you guys can help me plan this little trucks running gear and build up. I dont know straight axels at all and am no great mechanic but have cuda, rrs, ect. New to the trucks

I have this little 63 shortbox sweptline that I want to put a 500 stroker into and slamm it down.

The front end is the original straight axle and suspension. However the font support and cross member were cut by one of the previous owners who raced the truck with a 383 in it.

I want to make it a driver 440 block/500 stroker. Who makes the entire motor mounts for the conversion to do it the right way.

Or is there a way to go with a more moderd front suspention for this application and will that even effect my motor mounts, IE mustang two style front suspension or other? or maybe a later mod dodge truck swap out???

I still dont know if I am going auto and use the shifter on the dash, which is the cable style from a 65 year truck that was swapped out and is just sitting onthe dash or maybe even a 4 speed.

If I go with a 4 speed, will a cuda, E B body 4 speed work? I dont mind moving the shifter location of there a good strong truck 4 speed that will work for this application? any suggestions??? I have several B and E body 4 speeds siting here??

Any suggestions are appreciated as I am just starting to plan the job.

Also, any one like the hood scoop I have sitting on the hood?

first off i cant come up with a single good reason to have to cut the front brace out...simple wasnt needed unless they were trying to lowwer the engine....from what ive seen every mopar truck was setup to run slanty, big block , small block and have the bolt holes to run any motor that ma put out

if you want a "car" suspension id go with f,m, j body front frame section as its a 4bolt afair and will give you disc brakes and power steering as well as torsion bars

if you want to keep the I-beam..then all you need is a stock set of motor mounts

as far as trans goes...you have a trans tunnel that was built to take anything......so pretty much any trans will fit in the truck its a matter of modding the tranny crossmember to accept it

if you do away with the shifter let me know if your parting with it
