mopar or no car
I have an offer to buy a 1971-4 360 i am not positive of the year. it is currently seized and it has a 340 intake on it and a thermo quad carb.. I was thinking of rebuilding this for my 73' charger that currently has a 318 that needs rings. Would this be worth the hassle of rebuilding the 360? I am looking to get decent power.

Yes. Cost is basically the same as building the 318 and you will get much more bang for the buck with a 360. No replacement for displacement yanno.;)

The 360 was considered more a less a joke trying to fill in for the 340. Much like the 400 tried to fill in for the 383. It was left languishing in junkyards for quite some time. Most people avoided it as the longer stroke and undersquare proportions made it seem less likely to rev like the 340. In the last 15 years or so the ready supply of 340 has dried up and eyes were turned to the poor 360. Since then the 360 has been turned into a stellar performer and has surpassed the 340 in a lot of areas. It isn't too difficult to get 400 horses from a 360. Try that with your 318. Yes you can get 400 ponies from ther 318, but its strung a little tighter and shy on the old torque curve and longevity rears its ugly head.

Go for the 360. I had one in my Duster (which now has a 340) and we swapped the 360 into a Dakota.

My 360 is a very mild build but has great torque off the line and I ran several 13 second timeslips with it. I'm looking for 12's next season with it in my truck and it shouldn't be too difficult to achieve. We built the engine from scratch and have less than 2 grand in it.
