2008 BMW M3

I know this is a mopar site and i really do respect that. however, every so often an extremely respectable vehicle comes rollin around. I work at a BMW, mercedes, and volvo dealership and we just got a few cars in that i must say have captured my attention. to the point that given the choice, i may swing towards this as opposed to a hemi anything...

the 2008 BMW M3 is a $70k sedan or coupe with a v8 making 420 hp and 295 ft.lb. of torque. it has an 8400 rpm redline and a top speed (limited) at 155mph, (unlimited) 205mph.[smilie=f:

as far as a tranny is concerned, it's either the smoothest 6 speed ever created or a 7 speed sequential manual gearbox.

well, that's all i really have to say. i've been excited for this car for a while but now that we've got 2 sitting on our lot, i'm more than happy. it sure is a nice car. what a dream to drive!!!!

I agree - nice cars..

I'd need at least a 6 series and preferably a 7 series to get my gangly legs in any semblance of a comfortable seating position.

Sitting my boss' 5 series is a chore for me.
My wife's cousin's 745 is awesome.

the 7 is pretty bitchin, but no one really wants them anymore. i got a chance to drive a 760 last week witch is a very nice little v12... :vroom:

haha, i meant new.. it's hard to sell them because we also sell the mercedes S class.. it's cheaper and easier to use but it's not a bmw.

Okay, for new ones, I'll only charge $50.

I mean, if no one wants them, they're just taking up space on the lot right?
I can make your problem go away... and for a very fair price!

*hopes Nick is buying in to this*

:bwuhaha:

The BMW is nice, but if I was ever gonna drop that kind of coin on a new car I'd have one of these $95k
380HP, 367 Ft Lbs 4.6L V8

amazing how much that engine looks like an alfa engine

you work for a dealership or something?......eyeballs bmw MC

The joystick computer controller in the 7 series cars has been described as a nightmare to operate while parked much under motion, nice looking car but ditch the heat and radio controller from hell and let er rip.

you work for a dealership or something?

Trans-Atlantic Motors, INC.

bmw, volvo, and mercedes benz dealership. it's nice to have all of these lines to play with, but i need to know everything about everything with ALL the models. what a pain in the ass that proves to be. without the job i've got, i never would've been able to even touch these cars, let alone drive them everyday. it's worth the studying.

GIO- The "joystick" you're speaking about is called the "I-Drive". it comes in most of the models, and once you get used to it, it's really convenient. there are also radio controls on the steering wheel, and climate controls on the dash underneath the nav screen.

it takes so damn long to deliver a 7 to a customer... it's literally a 3-4 hour delivery and most of the time they forget everything as you go and they come back with a thousand stupid questions.

i still like my mopars... :)

I have had the chance on many occasions to flog the piss out of many a Bimmer, either my own cars or my in laws or the my best friends, hell, even the dealers....and I gotta tell you, they not only take a pounding, they do it with a balance and grace I have never experienced before. the i-drive is much better now Nick, but I am sure you are familiar with say, a 2002 745 i-drive....it is a TURD. Overly complicated and intrusive. the cars themselves are terrific, with only minor issues that I know of, most all of them coming in the "rushed to production" 7 series.
The M3 is a blast, hell, the 335i is as much fun as anyone can imagine......but in all honesty, can you not even step into a mid 90's 540i and leave giggling?
Not sure how the engine looks like an alfa, 69, BMW has been so far ahead of that old tech for so many years it is stupid.
the Lexus is a very nice car, but much more in tune with someone who is 65 and wants get up and go NOW. :) that being said, I may buy a Lexus this week. lol. They are very comfy cars, quick and buttery smooth, but have NO sporting edge.
DCF, I am surprized you have issues of comfort in the 5 series.....getting in and out may be a chore, but I am very comfy on drives in either of our 5's. I find myself roped into driving them to Fla for my parents, and, quite frankly, really secretly enjoy it. :D

any 5 series with a v8 pretty much hauls ass. and a 540i is probably the only bmw i'll be able afford throughout my life. we had an 01 540 6spd sport and it was a friggin hot rod! cool ass car, and really a mid sized v8 car. purdy too.. black on black. mmmm mmm mmm

now it's a 550 and all the more impressive. they may "over-engineer", but the benefits are far more than worth it. these cars are true performers, bred from the race track. all you have to do is go for a ride in one and it tells a tale of "careful... you may shit your pants" hell, people even have a blast in their 318i... hahaha, and it's a 4 banger.

I was lucky enough to go autocrossing in a few older 3 series cars.....in all honesty it was fuckin incredible. full stickies, but stock suspension other than heavier swaybars (in one) and bilsteins. Incredible forces they take, hard to believe really.
An 01 540 is a hoot, no doubt.....
The best thing I liked about em? The fact that when I needed new brakes I got 4 new rotors (Brembos?) and all new pads.......all for a "special price" of $500 and change. All factory. Do that with my Escalade? RIIIIIIIGGGHT. :(

it's upwards of $2,000 here for brakes and rotors all around. the parts are about 700, labor is the bitch.

we get 100 per hour here.... no wonder why we're sinkin with the rest of the automotive business.

and don't forget about the diag time..

Interesting, but I remember getting brakes on another 5 series we owned and it was more. We did it in Pheonix AZ and the rate was $175 when ours was $75..... WTF? I think Bimmers are more money to maintain there (the US), at least that was the conclusion we formed.
