Current owner of 13 years purchased this truck from the Wagonmaster in 2003 with 48k miles; it's in pristine original condition and easily among the best-preserved Wagoneers I've ever seen.Original paint on every panel; chrome, trim, glass, rubber, bumpers, woodgrain, etc. show as nearly new. Remarkable absence of scratches and door dings; very minor rock chips and sandblasting on the leading edge of the hood are the only discernible areas of exterior wear. Clean CarFax with no accidents. Current owner has not driven this truck in the rain for more than a decade, and clearly the previous owners never had it in the mud; the rockers, floor pans, cab supports and corners are among the cleanest you will find -- without even the usual layer of surface rust. Original wheels in very good condition with nearly new tires.
The interior shows beautifully with original carpet, door panels, dash, woodgrain and steering wheel in like-new condition; very minor patina on driver's seat leather. A/C blows ice cold. Although it was running fine for the most part, by 75,000 miles little maintenance headaches started to crop up with the original engine. So two years ago, the owner, seeking a headache-free ownership experience, had a remanufactured Jasper 360 cubic inch engine (the correct motor) installed at a cost of nearly $7,000. At the same time he had the factory ignition system under the hood upgraded to an MSD ignition. The truck remains completely stock otherwise, both mechanically and cosmetically. With just 13,000 miles on the remanufactured engine, it starts, runs and drives like new.
