1979 Jeep CJ5 - $14,900 - Atlanta, GA - Few vehicles do summer better than a Jeep with the doors and top off. The Jeep CJ, beloved for generations, continues to be popular in its current incarnation as the Wrangler -- but nothing manufactured today has the charm of the original.
This 1979 CJ-5 saw a complete frame-off restoration -- including a brand new fiberglass tub -- just four years ago. The paint, in Medium Blue Poly metallic, looks fantastic -- a stainless front bumper, stainless hinge kit, stainless mirrors and lots of new trim complete the look. The hood, grille and windshield frame are steel. There are absolutely no rust issues, thanks to the fiberglass tub, and you won't have to worry about any in the future -- the frame was cleaned and repainted during the restoration, so the underside looks almost as good as the top. The interior shows well, with a custom stainless dash with Auto Meter gauges. Front seats are stock (passenger seat is showing minor wear), and there's a Bestop rear seat in good condition -- great for kids or slender adults. A locking center console with cup holders and a padded armrest helps keep you refreshed and comfortable. This jeep comes with both a full soft top and a bikini top; the roll bar is nicely covered and the carpet is in good condition. Aluminum slot mags with 32-inch tires provide a nice finishing touch.
Under the hood is a 360 cubic-inch V8 which was bored .030" over during a complete rebuild 15,000 miles ago; it's mated to a rebuilt T150 three-speed manual gearbox. The V8 makes great power, thanks to Edelbrock's performer intake, cam and carburetor setup -- and it sounds great, too, thanks to Headman headers that exit on each side in front of the rear tires. You need not worry about fuel delivery issues because this example has a new 15-gallon poly gas tank. This CJ is very nicely detailed under the hood, so it looks as good as it runs and drives. Suspension upgrades include a two-inch add-a-leaf plus a 1.5-inch shackle lift; all bushings are poly for added durability. Steering and suspension feel great, just as you would expect, and this Jeep stops well, too, due to power brakes (with front discs).
This CJ5 has been garage kept and well maintained -- and it shows. For more information about this 1979 Jeep available at Motorcar Studio in Atlanta, give us a call at 404-692-5250.
