1973 GTX #s 117 VS 749 mystery solved

gathering parts like a squirrel gathering NUTS
well not solved but im going to do some digging to put this argument to rest . the reason i bring this up is i was on EBAY checking out 73 runners and i found this .

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TWO-1973-ROAD-RUNNERS-PARTS-CAR-400-727-4-SPEED-RESTO_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ39405QQihZ004QQitemZ140026579349QQrdZ1

" A ONE OF 1991 BUILT RARE BIG BLOCK 400 AUTOMATIC YELLOW BIRD, AND A VERY RARE ONE OF 749 BUILT 400 4 SPEED SILVER OR BLACK BIRD. "

now i have always thought the mix up between the 117 & 749 production #s "that i feel GALEN GOVIAIREA caused " had something to do with the 400 cid motor .

so can anybody could help me find the #s on the 400 production ?

thanks RANDY :bravo:

Goofy Galien has been caught more than once fiddling with numbers.
I'm quite certain he screws them around to his liking any chance he gets.

I see these cars on Ebay where people say that he's verified them and I laugh, as far as I'm concerned it de-values the cars.
He has the power to say things about them that are untrue, for example, a car could have all it's original drivetrain and if it's a car he'd tried to buy, or he didn't like someone, or the moon was in the wrong phase, he'd put in it's record that the drivetrain was non-original and tell any prospects the current owner is lying.

This example is exactly WHY I don't think we should share information with just ONE source, there should be several to keep the one, and each other, honest.

Mark.

who is Galen Govier?

He's some self proclaimed "Know-it-all", that I frankly feel doesn't really know much, how can he be such an expert when Ma Mopar can't seem to find any production information on the vehicles they built... ( just my .02)

That seller seems a bit shady, most of that stuff has been listed before, and some of them have multiple auctions going at the same time. The Duster/Demon is listed 3 times...:hmmm:

You hit the nail on the head Mark. About the only thing I value from him is the white books he has.

Personally, I'm not so sure he doesn't skew the numbers in favor of his good Corvette buddy, Roger Gibson. Those guys are so deep each other's throat it's hard to tell where Gay-len stops and Corvette-boy starts.
