1973 Dodge Dart - $21,995 - Charlotte, NC - This 1973 Dodge Dart Swinger is an awesome way to get into the old car hobby without spending a ton of cash to do it. With V8 power in a compact body it's got plenty of performance and by borrowing some styling cues from its big brothers over at the Mopar factory it has an aggressive look that's instantly recognizable. The color is Eggshell White which appears to be this car's original color thanks to door jambs that have never been painted (and never needed to be!). The single repaint shows a soft gloss and that typical Mopar shine that is endemic of the era so while it's very nice it does have a proper all-of-a-piece look that's very appealing. All the bodywork is straight with no signs of previous damage and having spent its life in the warm southern US rust is not something you'll worry about with this car. The hood scoop Go-Wing and bumblebee strip around the tail are all traditional Chrysler pieces that give the car a high performance look that Mopar fans will instantly recognize. The black vinyl top is exceptionally nice with no signs of bubbles underneath or around the trim and no loose threads on the seams. The chrome bumpers fore and aft remain bright and shiny with nothing more than a buff with a soft cloth to bring out a bright shine. We don't know if this is one of those little old lady specials but someone certainly took exceptionally good care of this little Dart and it shows. The split bench in this example does a pretty good impersonation of buckets with traditional Mopar pleats and built-in headrests. It's also wonderfully preserved with no damage or even notable wear. Even the seat covers are still taut with the back seat looking brand new which is rather amazing for being 40 years old! The instrument panel offers a rather complete array of gauges and the original Music Master AM radio is still in the dash just waiting for an upgrade. If you wanted A/C in your Dart it was an under-dash unit as shown here and it's a very rare option for a Dart. New carpets were probably installed at some point but everything else is vintage 1973. Open the trunk and there's a correct trunk mat that fits better than most as well as a correct jack assembly tucked into its spot in the quarter panel. This Dart uses a 318 cubic inch V8 borrowed from a later model. Powerful smooth and surprisingly torquey it delivers great performance thanks to the car's lightweight body. Thanks to upgrades like a 4-barrel carburetor in place of the original 2-barrel plus what we believe to be the heads and intake manifold from a 340 it definitely makes good power. It's quite nicely detailed with a very factory-correct overall look that helps with the factory sleeper vibe. A Torqueflite 3-speed automatic transmission shows quick reflexes the suspension has been augmented with modern shock absorbers all around including air shocks out back and the glasspack-equipped exhaust system sounds suitably threatening. Vintage Rallye wheels wearing fat 225/70/14 white-letter radials make the Dart a nimble handler and they really fill the wheelwells for a sporty look. Simple clean and very affordable this Dart is a lot of fun for the Mopar enthusiast or any cool classic car buyer. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Charlotte showroom.
