HISTORY:The third generation Charger was introduced for the 1971 model year. Chrysler's B platform was modified to meet new emissions and safety regulations. Available in six different packages with cosmetic changes that include: a split grill, semi fastback rear window, and a ducktail spoiler. The 1973 and 1974 Chargers were very similar to the 1971 with minor differences in the grill and headlamps. The increase in sales was mostly due to the elimination of the Dodge Coronet, which meant Dodge offered the two-door intermediate-size body style only as the Charger.-Wikipedia SPECIFICS / BUILD INFORMATIONEXTERIOR:-Painted in Superbird Blue.-Steel wheels.-Radial tires.-Rear spoiler.-R/T badging.INTERIOR:-White vinyl buckets.-Rear bench.-Blue carpet.-Center console for the Torqueflite auto transmission. Wow. What a hatchet job. You're basically purchasing a 340 in a disposable shipping crate with this one. Everything else about it is miserable.

I like the '71 left front fender. You can see the body work behind the marker light. The '71 rear bumper is nice too. Must have '71 bumper brackets too. The bumpers are pulled into the body with no fill trim around them.

i like the pulled bumpers myself..always felt it cleans them up..assuming you leave a gap no more than 1/2 inch

Dear sellers,
Here's a pro tip from photographers that shoot aging women: Soft focus.

Both the fenders are '73-'74. I don't see specific bodywork around either marker light personally, but the '71 rear bumper jumped out at me immediately--especially with the classy unused bolt holes. Hard to say due to photo artifacting with the picture zoomed (which could also explain the weird look around the marker light), but I think that's a '71-'72 decklid, which used the small-diameter lock cylinder... which also explains the '71-ish emblem placement, though what's there is wrong for any year.

I imagine the factory RH grille--maybe both--was/were destroyed in the same crash that forced the front bumper so far off center, mangled both still-wavy front fenders, and pushed the two sides of the entire engine bay closer together to create that atrocious hood fitment... check out those hood non-gaps! Said crash would also explain why they cut the headlamp bezels out of both grilles so the bulbs would be fully visible rather than overlapped by plastic. Check out the bulbs' positions in each side's bezel openings, then compare that to their counterparts on the other side of the car. The two passenger-side bulbs aren't even on the same horizontal plane as each other, never mind the LH bulbs. Remember, the headlamps are mounted to the fenders but the bumper mounts to the frame. This thing was, and still is, crushed up front. Considering how straight my Challenger was in a previous life, and knowing how badly bent its structure was that whole time, this Charger was hit pretty God-damned hard. I highly doubt any of the forward exterior sheetmetal or trim is original to this car, to be honest.

Anyone else notice:
  • No front turn signal lenses or sockets (which were originally built into the still-present reflector assemblies)?
  • LH grille hanging out at bottom?
  • Loads of plastic filler below the cutline on both fenders and both quarter panels?
  • Hood bent upward (more crash damage?)?
  • Buffed heavily between the cutlines, everywhere else the paint appears to have been dabbed on with a bath sponge?
  • Power-window front door panels with manual windows?
  • No rear window crank provisions whatsoever (it's probably a WL21-code car)?
  • Unparked windshield wipers?
  • Four-wheel drum brakes (again points at a WL21)?
  • Pebble-grain RH dash inlay (I've only seen that on WL21/WL4_ cars) with "custom" non-matching woodgrain glued over the graining?
  • Steering wheel alignment?
  • Ford mirrors and rear spoiler (pedestal spacing and rearward bow), spoiler heat-warped in center?
This car may be the worst one I've ever seen in this thread, using price as a factor. It's a fuckin' mess slapped together from a rusty wreck and swap-meet parts for quick profit. Even the "custom" touches are low-dollar, low-effort rattle can/JoAnn Fabrics affairs. When the best you've got for exterior features are "steel wheels" and "radial tires" it should be clear you've got value problems. "Blue carpet" as an interior feature? I guess it was an upgrade on a WL21 VIN, but the fact that you didn't replace it doesn't build confidence.

The sum total of parting this car out wouldn't hit $3,000, and that's assuming it's got an 8.75" rear and the engine really is a 340--both of which I'm actually betting against. The 340 "H-code" (what the fuck is that supposed to actually mean?!) was "added" but they won't show it, and I've never seen a WL21 car with anything but an 8.25" axle. There's not a single usable exterior body panel except possibly the decklid. So, you've got maybe a 340, probably a 904, most likely the weakest rearend available, and an (amazingly) uncut clock Rallye dash that will accept a tach--the entire rest of the interior is completely and permanently fucked.

These assholes should be ashamed to even list this car, unless it's a consignment--then the owner is the shameless asshole. If it really does have a full 340/727/8.75", $3,000 would be a strain value-wise as a driver. As the parts car I consider it, a grand less would be a tough sell.

You know what's most infuriating? These hacks actually painted the front of the core support black! Take note, Chip Foose! :bwuhaha:
