1972 Dodge Charger - $14,500 - Manitowoc, WI - All vehicle trades considered, including classics and performance.
Here is a nice entry level classic in the form of a 1972 Dodge Charger. I think these early 1970's B-bodies represent great value in the world of classic Mopars. They are sharp looking, nice riding cars that cost a fraction of their 1968-70 brethren.

This is a fine example without any rust or mechanical issues. The solid underside has its original frame sections, spring mounts, and torsion bar anchors, while the floor pans look good with only two small patches at the front. The body is straight and true without any dings or dents. This is an original code GY8 Gold Metallic car that has been recently repainted with a new windshield, rear glass, and door seals. It also received a new V4W white vinyl top, front bumper, and black graphics for a nice look. The BF Goodrich tires are also new.

The original G-code 318ci motor has been replaced in kind but upgraded with a Mopar aluminum intake manifold, Carter AVS 4-barrel carburetor, and electronic ignition. The 727 Torqueflite automatic transmission feeds the 8-3/4" rear end. The power steering and power front disc brakes with new master cylinder make the car easy to drive. Note the front suspension was just rebuilt and aligned.

The black and white interior has new front seat covers, carpeting, dash cap, and headliner. The factory woodgrain accents are a nice touch too. The speedometer, gauges, and dash lights all work. So do the horn, heater, wipers, parking brake, and dome light. The headlights, turn signals, backup lights, and neutral safety switch are all good too, while the radio has been deleted.

This Charger really offers a lot for the money. It is complete and in good overall condition with lots of recent work performed. I don't think you'll find many comparable V8 Mopars in this price range.

This car is actually not terribly priced considering its condition, but alas: it's a 318 column-shift cars and the '72s don't really get the love they should. The engine's no screamer but that's an easily-corrected error and it's probably fairly enjoyable as-is. I've gotta say, I'm surprised at the 727, but I assume that was changed when the engine was. That's an 8-1/4" rear, though, and '71-'72 (some '73) 8-3/4" B-body axles aren't all that easy to find since most '73s and every '74 I've seen had the crappy iso-clamps. Typical "undercoat everything" undercarriage, sadly... but it's got a lot of the right stuff: dual exhaust with tips is in place, a Rallye dash with the desirable clock (easily swapped to a tach, which can't be done with the base Rallye cluster), big radiator, 3-speed wipers, etc. But what're you gonna do about that horrifying paint color?

I think this car would be a pretty solid buy at $10K, but if '71-'72 Chargers are your thing and you don't mind the base V8, it wouldn't be a sin to pay a couple thousand below asking... right after you put a prybar between the steering box and frame rail to make sure it's not crumbling there. Sadly, odds are roughly even that it is.

as ugly as the color is..it looks damn good in it...maybe thats cause ive never seen one in it..or maybe its cause your likely not to see ANY other car in it

I have a friend with a same-year, same-color 340 Charger Rallye. His has a full vinyl top in black; the black looks better, but I much prefer this car's canopy roof style. His has a truly-awful beige interior, though. The car in this ad should have white seats; the black ones look awful with the white interior panels and headliner.
