I hate to see a real one die a heinous death, that's all. I understand your situation, though, and I won't judge you for what you're considering. You've been gone awhile and missed the sad tale of my friend's '71 Twister. Yeah, it was a 318, but it had all the goodies including the 8.75" rear end, disc brakes, dual-scoop hood, console, Rallye dash with tach, you name it, and a perfect "sharktooth" grille. He offered me a screaming deal on it but I couldn't swing it--this was a solid Georgia car, too. E5 red, to boot. After trying to sell it for a couple of years, it got parted out. He kept the data tags, VIN, and build sheet while the car hogged a stall in his garage. After several failed eBay auctions on a stripped-but-solid Southern body with all documentation and a reserve of only $300, he hauled it to the crusher. He made over 3 times what he asked me of it, and at the time it had a complete, later E58 360 and 727 in it. All he kept were the engine and trans, some pictures, and memories of a car he really wanted to restore but money just didn't allow that to happen.
Oh, and you got totally stroked on those fenders. Even here in Rust Country, you're talking maybe $400 for the pair in perfect shape.
