1970 Dodge Super Bee - $55,000 - Glastonbury, CT - 1970 Dodge Super Bee, This is a one-owner car with complete documentation from the initial sales order, broadcast sheet, QC punch list and more. The car was purchased in New Britain, CT, and features a high performance 383 CID "Magnum" engine, manual 4-speed transmission, bucket seats and center console. This is one of 3,966 Super Bee coupes built in 1970. There has been some repaint, a new interior and the engine was rebuilt in 2002. This is the original engine. There are no power accessories.
The engine compartment is clean with only road dust. The engine was repaired during the rebuild. No leaks or seepage. Battery is the proper Mopar brand and the original coolant label is present on the radiator support, although unreadable.
The condition of the frame and underbody is consistent with the age and mileage of the vehicle. Exhaust system replaced in 2003. Tires are Dunlop 225/70R14 on factory wheels. Tires in good condition. Rear bumper is straight with a smooth, reflective surface. Front bumpers are straight with age pitting and lower reflectivity.
Interior replaced and rewired in 2007. Padded dashboard is in excellent condition; instruments lenses clear and wood grain facing in excellent condition. Seats, carpeting, headliner, door panels and interior hardware all excellent. Factory AM radio and original ‘pistol grip’ shifter in center console.
Trunk is clean with no rust visible and has spare tire and original tools.
This is a very well maintained and enjoyed car that does not show its age or mileage when viewed at a distance. The car started easily and the Flowmaster exhaust system has the ‘right’ sound. From 20 feet away, this car looks very good and even at 10 feet, the aging is not readily apparent. Although not in show condition, it can be displayed and appreciated. A really fun ‘drive’.

First.......it's GREEN, I can accept that the engine bay isn't restored, but replace those rusty brake lines.

It never came with a holley carb. :naughty:

Grossly over-priced for a base runner, although it is mostly original.

And, lastly......it's GREEEEN. :dgt:

The carb is not correct since it's a late-model "replacement" carb with an electric choke (the thermostatic choke well is clearly visible), but it is the correct type of carb. All '70 383HP engines (Super Bee/Road Runner) had Holley carbs. The 335-horse HP engine was only offered in the Road Runner and Super Bee without AC. All other cars, and all air conditioning cars used the 330-horse 4-barrel engine, which had the Carter AVS. There is no Carter carburetor number for a 1970 383HP application. This is sort of the reverse of the situation from 1969, where AC and 330-horse engines primarily used Holleys while the 335-horse B-bodies (Super Bee/Road Runner, it was NA in the Charger) used the AVS.

As an aside, the 350-horse 440 used a Holley almost exclusively starting in 1967, which remained the case through '70. The only exception was cars equipped with the Clean Air Package, which used a Carter AVS. In '71, all 440s had AVS carbs; the following year they were all Holleys.

Obviously, there are exceptions to every rule where an engine got the wrong carb installed, but per the rule this is how the Holley/Carter thing played out on Mopars.

And yes, it's wildly overpriced, especially considering it's also got the wrong wheels on it. :naughty:
