Y'know, for all the old Mopars I've had over the years, I don't recall a single one of them ever having a black-painted master cylinder or cap... and I know they weren't all replacements. I know I replaced the original one in my Challenger, which only had 71,000 miles on it at the time. It was raw cast iron with a gold/zinc cover and a natural-steel retainer, as were most of the others I had, but for some reason here's Badalson with everything painted black. He must've taken a cue from "painted manual steering box" Roger Corvette, er, Gibson.
 
see..i get painting the "raw" stuff..but i either engine clear or castiron then clear..so it still looks "right"
 
Agreed. Get the visual right with paint to protect it, but in this case it's not like the car's ever going to see weather. Dousing rust-prone parts with WD40 or fogging oil then wiping clean would be enough to protect them in a climate-controlled garage or museum.
