1969 Dodge Charger R/T - $32,000 - Shelton, CT - 1969 Dodge ChargerRT / SE,West Coast vehicle, garaged since I took ownership in 1998. 440 cid (motor correct but 1973 block), original Carter AVS4640 4 bbl (recent rebuild), speed control, power windows, front disc brakes, AC. Has new springs/shocks, U & L ball joints, control arm bushings, brakes, new rotors, rebuilt 4 piston calipers, fuel tank, seats reupholstered, leather front seats, instrument cluster restored, new rear light harness, engine wiring new. I have the build sheet and the window sticker! I can't prove the mileage is actually 84,000 but it seems likely that it is. I don't know why the engine block is date coded 1973 either.
Body: see photos for pass rear quarter, under vinyl top, bottom rear window, & rear valence. Also small hole in floor pan by gas pedal, otherwise floor pans are solid. Vehicle was repainted sometime in the 80s.
Engine/Trans: Common leaks have been repaired, new oil pan/valve covergaskets, new trans gasket and filter, power steering pump rebuilt, steering box o-rings replaced, rebuilt heater valve on firewall, new belts & hoses. New clutch on AC compressor. One leak not yet addressed is likely freeze out plug on back of block is leaking.

Well, you know, they were pre-dating blocks in antici...

...pation

You can make the engine correct, and that's fine by me, but at least admit the original block is long-gone and this was as close as you could get. This is a $20,000 car on a good day, and not to me. It's well-known that I consider the 1969 Charger the ugliest of the 2nd-gen cars.

I feel that way about the '70 models. That chrome grille just reminds me of a whale with it's mouth open trolling for krill. Painted body color it doesn't look so bad.

I think the split grille of the '69 is just ugly. I think the '68 was better (it definitely had the prettiest tail panel/tail lamps), and I like the loop bumper on the '70 as it works into the body lines, rather than being hung there like an afterthought. The '69 and '70 had those ghastly reverse lamps, too. Gack. You have to know where they are or look for 'em on a '68--styling at it's finest. The '70 Charger, to my knowledge, was never available with a body-colored front bumper. To me, it would just look wrong. But, to each his own. I prefer the '70 out of that generation, with the '68 close behind.

It's pretty obvious someone in Chrysler styling working on grilles was in love with dividers and little gills... look at the '69 Polara wagon, the '69 Charger, and every E-body 'Cuda except the '71. There are lots of similarities there.

It says "motor correct but '73 block" Obviously what he is saying is it has the original starter motor on the replacement '73 engine block! :D
