Sharp-lookin' ride. Shame about the automatic; not only because it lacks a clutch but because AMC floor shifters in this era were ugly beyond belief. Lose the Grant wheel, too. I totally dig the color scheme and also love the 343 engine, largely due to a local 343/4-speed AMX that's stupid quick for being largely stock. It's been around since I was in high school, with the same owner the entire time.

It is a nice paint/stripe combo, but as the doc stated, the lack of a third pedal removes any chance of excitement.

I want to like AMCs.. I like quirky.. I like underdogs, but every time I see the interior of one, it's like it was designed over a phone.. They're somehow always more stodgy, more vinyl, more awkward.. Considering the interior is where you spend most of your time (hopefully not under the hood), they usually don't warm my cockles.. there's been a '71 Ambassador for sale locally for a while.. While I can get past the doo-doo-brown, something about the dash and the steering wheel make me move on every time.

Yeah, a lot of their interiors were truly bad. The '71-'74 Javelin, though, was a brilliant exception. Love that wraparound cluster and the horseshoe shifter.

The AMC's DID come up with some unique upholstery patterns though.
