1969 AMC AMX - $37,000 - Mission, KS - The AMX was American Motors entrance into the Muscle Car market in 1968, and was only built during the '68-70 model years. Boasting a shorter wheelbase than Corvette, it was the only 2 seat, metal bodied, sports car built in the U.S. since the '55-'57 T-Bird. This car was not only "go straight ahead" fast like other muscle cars, but it did extremely well on a road circuit, thus appealing to the sports car enthusiast as well. This 1969 version of the AMX is powered by its original 390 cubic inch 315 horsepower engine, and Borg Warner 4 speed transmission with a Limited Slip PosiTrac rear end (3:55 gears). This car is equipped with the "Go Package" which consists of E-70 red line tires on six inch rims, handling package, power disc brakes, TwinGrip differential, and identifying over the top stripes. Options on this AMX also include power steering, 8 thousand RPM tach, and AM 8 track radio. The engine has had the benefit of recent work including new timing chain, oil pump kit, water pump, complete tune up with wires, new starter, all belts and a new radiator. Additional work has includes a new clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing and new U joints in the drive shaft. The limited slip PosiTrac rear end has been completely rebuilt,and brake lines, rear wheel cylinders, brake shoes, rear shocks, and leaf springs have been have all been replaced.
