1968 AMC AMX - $27,900 - manchester, NH - This 1968 AMC AMX has a 390 4 barrel 315hp. Interior, automatic (Borg Warner M12 trans.) Factory code 39 Matador Red with white stripes, code 835 red interior, PS, PDB, am radio, factory tach, simulated wood 3 spoke steering wheel, 15" Magnum 500 wheels with Goodyear Poly glas GT F-60-15 raised white letter bias ply tires. Car unit #4188. Only 6725 of these rare limited production muscle cars were ever built. Purchased from a private collection in PA. This AMX spared no expense on a full rotisserie restoration. Professionally restored to factory specs, right downn to the paint markings on the underside. Refinished in Matador Red n the bottom side, looks as nice as the top! High quality exterior Matador Red refinished in 2 stage base coat clear coat paint system. Vibrant red with the white vinyl Lemans stripes, beautiful chrome bumpers, rear bumper guards, restored bright work and stainless to show quality standards. Exceptionally nice tail light bezels, chrome and tail lenses. High attention to detail in the trunk, hood, door and fender jamb areas. New shaded replacement windshield, orig. glass with only the drivers door glass has a minor scratch in the front of the side mirror. Roof stainless drip rail, door stainless, door handles, weather strip, window felts, side view mirror, wiper arms, head light bezels, fender eyebrows, front grille, turn signal indicators are all in A-1 high quality restored condition. The 15" Magnum 500 wheels are all in perfect condition with no flaws noticed and the tires are reproductions. Mirror finish paint with a wet look that really grabs the eye when you walk around the car. Factory antenna is also new as well as the quarter vent chrome trim with new window rubbers. The car's suspension is new fresh look from front to back as well as all the front end components, gas tank, fuel lines, shocks, highly detailed posi traction rear end, 2 1/4 dual exhaust extension gives this AMX 390 a nicely tuned sound. Spotless trunk area, factory collapsible spare tire, with a new trunk mat. Unfortunately, there is not jack. Checking out under the hood is most impressive. The motor was rebuilt during the restoration and has approx. 1,000 miles since the rebuild. Factory intake, air cleaner element with heat tube, orig. exhaust manifolds with factory spark plug heat shield. Orig. style clamps and hoses, with orig. vacuum dist. Re cored orig. style radiator, new engine bay and head light wiring harness. Factory chrome valve covers. The only thing that is not original is a new Edlebrock 4 barrel carb. Beautifully detailed inner fender aprons and fire wall refinished in high gloss Matador Red wet sanded and buffed like the exterior. All new front nose bolts and hardware, new hood insulation, rubber hood stops and rubber bumpers. Reconditioned orig. horns, new washer bag, reconditioned wiper motor with all new lines. Windshield washer lines and hoses are hooked up too. Considered a show quality engine bay with a nice sounding motor. The interior of the car is nicely restored as well. New carpet, seat covers, door panels, headliner, perfect dash and instrument panel, tach, speedo, gauges all work fine. New door hardware, new plastic chrome seat cushions. Folding bucket seats, new headlight and wiper knobs, console and shifter are in excellent condition. Factory wood steering wheel has a tiny hairline crack in it. New rear view mirror. Speedo reads 86,508 miles indicated, new plastic dash instrument clear lens, dash cluster all light up in blue. New AMC door sill plates and e-brake handle. Overall, the inside is in super nice restored condition.. If you've been searching for a red on red 68 AMX 390, you'll want to check this one out. You'll be impressed with the workmanship that went into this very muscle car. Unnoticed for decades, the cost of these cars back in 68 were very pricey for the simple reason they didn't build as many as other product MFG lines. A true sleeper, light weight and extremely quick you'll notice once you get behind the wheel of this great find.
