looks to be a factory survivor all the way down to the shitty panel fitment LOL..but a fairly nice car

Not too bad a ride, really. I don't know where they get "rare" out of the 4-speed... in the mid-'60s, a lot of people opted for the extra gear in their manual rather than go with an automatic, particularly in a sporty car.

The first thing I would ask about is the engine. The ad just states "V8 Engine". Is it OEM, newer, rebuilt or just repainted.

Well, it does appear to have all the correct early LA bits on it such as the PCV, water neck, etc. so I would guess it's probably the OE 273. Of course, there's no real way to tell if it is pre-1968 other than by "seems right" casting numbers and date codes, so how critical is it, really? It still has the ultra-long "peek-a-boo" lug nuts correct for those wheelcovers, so I'm thinking it's pretty original. Not that I keep track, but last I knew those weren't being reproduced.

I agree that the price is out of hand. Half of that number sounds about right, maybe a little less.

10k "might" be doable "if" it had a build sheet and was a formula S or commando car...cheep POS battery terminals..cheep chrome valve covers...

Those actually appear to be factory chrome valve covers. Look at the built-in wire retainers. I think those were available as part of a dress-up package, but I can't swear to it.

"Commando" just means it's a V8. Two-barrel cars regularly came with Commando nameplates. Super Commando denoted the four-barrel carburetor but to my knowledge there's no Super Commando emblem. When my friend had the '66 Valiant, he'd bought the entire front half of a 273-2V Barracuda for the inner fenders and toe boards (I nicknamed it the "SemiCuda" :D ), which were cut out in his car for fenderwell headers. He didn't get the fenders in the deal, but they had the V8 Commando emblems on them, as did his four-barrel Valiant.
