1965 Dodge Dart - $50,000 - Atascadero, CA - 1965 Dodge Dart Charger 273, D Dart: a true collector's car, one for a collection of unique, historical cars. This is the earliest known Charger 273, one of a handful of the180 L.A. built 1965 Darts with the Charger 273 trim package. With the Doug Thorley headers (originally a special order from Chrysler racing), the car also is classified as a D Dart, a car tuned for the track at 275 hp. The original Mallory dual-point distributer and the Carter 4 barrel and manifold are included. The car currently runs with Chrysler racing electronic ignition, an Offenhauser manifold, and an electric choke Carter. The car is fast. This 273 numbers-matching unit (the original Wedge engine and 904 transmission) have very few miles since a complete rebuild of engine and transmission in 1995 when the car was repainted and the factory-stock interior redone. The car has been rarely driven and garaged since the work in 1995. The paint is not perfect but the few flaws are minor. The Cragar SS wheels have some rust, but otherwise the car is free from any major rust as the nearly 20 year paint job reveals. Also, in 1995, the vast majority of stainless trim and chrome were polished or rechromed. The car is not mint but it would not take much to make it so. This car’s beauty turns heads. Thousands of Bel Airs, 5 of these?
