We are proud to offer this beautiful and extremely rare 1961 Chrysler Newport T&C Hardtop Wagon with just 58000 actual miles. Some say that the 1961 Chrysler wagons are the most sought after wagons ever made. Space age styling and major internal design changes made the '61 the one to have. Only 1832 Newport wagons were produced in 1961 making this a very rare car today. They rarely come up for sale and most are already in the hands of collectors.
This three owner California car is absolutely beautiful and in very original & excellent condition. The paint is mostly original. There are a few small imperfections from years of use but nothing major and barely noticeable. Chrome and trim shine like new. There is No pitting and not a dent or ding at all. This low mileage original was born and raised in the dry climate of sunny California and it shows.
The interior is completely original and in excellent condition for its age. The space age instrument cluster looks incredible and all gauges work. The oblong steering wheel has no cracks at all. This wagon is nicely optioned with factory AC, Golden Tone AM radio, power steering, power brakes, light package, power rear window, tinted glass and more. Being 100% original and nearly 55 years old, you would expect a few flaws from regular usage. There are only two on this wagon worth noting. The are small dash cracks on the top portion of the dash and a small tare on the drivers side seat. Unbelievable for an original interior of this age.
The 361ci 2bbl Golden Lion engine with torque-flite automatic push button transmission runs and drives beautifully. Driving this car really shows how well taken care of this car was throughout the years. The mileage is 100% accurate and it clearly shows. It is completely safe, roadworthy and capable of short or long roadtrips with the family. The undercarriage is completely original and rust free.
Great documentation shows its California roots which includes the original build sheet, original window sticker and more. Nearly $4000 in recent upgrades include new front end & brake work, air conditioning upgrade to R134 that blows cold, repair of all gauges , sending units, turn signals, new battery, interior lighting and more. This car was very well taken care of. The previous owner wanted EVERYTHING to work properly and now, everything does.
