While Chevrolet may have stolen most of the spotlight with its new 1955 models, the new Plymouths were no less compelling. The new V-8 cut the Belvedere’s 0-60 times by nearly half. This Belvedere is also equipped with the legendary Powerflite automatic transmission, the first true automatic in a Plymouth. 1955 was also the debut of the novel dash mounted shifter, showing again Plymouth was ahead of its time.
