1955 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer - $39,500 - Fredericksburg, TX - The 1955 Dodge lineup, consisting of the entry-level Coronet, Royal, and ornate Custom Royal, was a major departure for the company. Driven almost out of business in 1953 and 1954, the Chrysler Corporation was revived with a $250 million dollar loan from Prudential and new models designed by the legendary Virgil Exner. The Dodge lineup was positioned as the mainstream line in the Chrysler hierarchy, between Plymouth and DeSoto. The Exner design was in full glory with the car you see here in hardtop form. This top of the line, fully restored, beauty is an awesome car. The tri-tone paint scheme featuring Heather Rose primary color, accented with Jewel Black and Sapphire White just screams fifties. Of course it is outlined with lots of trim and chrome. Ever wonder where fins got their start with Chrysler Corp? Look closely at the rear quarters. The subtle chrome fins became full quarter panels on late fifties designs. There are all kinds of styling details that make this Lancer so unique. The pretty paint is also accented with real wire Kelsey Hayes style wheels and wide white wall radial tires. Power comes from a 270 cubic inch Super Red Ram HEMI V-8. It was the top of the line motor and has the very rare optional "Power Pack" 4 barrel carburetor, and dual exhaust. A smooth shifting automatic transmission is operated by a dash mounted chrome handle. This car runs and drives fantastic. The immaculate interior is show quality from the tight fitting headliner to the beautiful black and white fabrics. The front and rear bench seats are very comfortable. The dash and steering wheel are quite stylish. Some notable options are power steering, turn signals, dual outside mirrors, backup lights, and tinted windshield. The car is nicely detailed including the trunk and motor compartments. The chassis shows well also. If you have been shopping for a classic car, I do not have to tell you how rare this one is. They only built 26,727 of these in 55. This car is ready to show, drive, and enjoy. If you would like to attend a car show or cruise night sporting something truly unusual, make this Lancer yours today. Financing, insurance, and delivery are available.
