1936 Dodge LC - $14,500 - 55410, MN - 1936 Dodge LC, The truck has been restored to original condition. It is in no way a street rod, i.e. no material modifications that enhance performance or ride. The VIN on the title matches that on the firewall. Here are the features of this truck:
Rebuilt original 201 cc 3 1/8" bore 6 cylinder flathead motor. Bored, (pistons 0.100 over), new rod bearings, main bearings, cam bearings, pistons, rings, etc. The crank was balanced. New gaskets al around. It runs nice. There are around 150 hours on the motor since the rebuild. The radiator is flushed and sealed, but is original.
The interior of the cab is in original condition, all gauges are present. The temperature gauge is an original new gauge I purchased for the truck. It does not work, but as I understand it it needs to be charged with gas and calibrated. I have the float valve for the gas tank but have not installed it, so the fuel gauge does not function. It The interior headliner is a reproduction I purchased from the Roberts motor company in Mass. It has stitched corners, and not the pressed , rounded cardboard corners like the liner in the original truck, but looks sharp. The floor mat is a generic reproduction for trucks of that era, sold to fit Dodge trucks from around '35 -'39. I have the hardware for the driver's side door, it is just not attached yet.
The wiring harness and light wiring harness is made of the original cloth material by a company in Rhode Island, as are all wire coatings. It looks sharp. There are just a few rubber coated wires in it currently - those that connect the after- market turn signal adapter to the lights, and a few small sections that connect the rear tail sections to the lights.
The body parts are all original and welded and filled with solder or/fiberglass during the restoration. No dings or rumples in the fenders. They look sharp. There are a few slight dings in body at the rear of the cab, and a very slight rumple in the hood on the right hand side that is barely noticable. The interior of the box has a few holes up near the cab that were rusted through. I did not fix these because it was my intention to put down a wood liner over the top. Unless you look very hard, these are not noticeable. The paint is basecoat/clear coat. The color is matched as best we could to that which we found in the paint catalouge of the day. I
Drive train, all original: New U-joint covers, pinion bearing, wheel bearings, king pins, seals (wheels and differential), brake cylinders (new, not rebuilt), brake linings, brake lines. New clutch disk, planed flywheel, new throw-out bearing. Hand brake re-lined.
The chrome pieces are all original. I have not re-chromed anything and this may need to be done to bring it to a spectacular condition. As you can see from the pictures it looks sharp, but there are some blemishes in the hubcaps, and some pitting on the grill and ornament. The grill was smashed in when I got it, and I had it a part strip by strip, re-soldered and re assembled. There is one part near the base of the cast piece in the grill that is epoxied together, and I needed to find the correct clips to hook the trim around the grill to the radiator housing.
The top of the gas tank was cut off, the interior of the tank sandblasted, the top resoldered so it does not leak, and the tank sealed. It has been this way for 20+ years and no leaks. It is in great shape. I have a new sending unit but it is not installed at the time.
I have an entire motor and drive train for a replica truck that comes with this, most everything but the frame and the body. The motor is dissassembled (so I could move it around) but it is all there (one cylinder is seized from rust, but the block is in good shape). Also, extra starter (rebuilt) generator, lots of gauges, fuel pump, door and window hardware, manuals, etc that I will sell..
The tires are BF Goodrich 6.00 x16 original bias type purchased in the mid 90's from Coker tire. They are in great shape but need some cleaning on the sidewalls.
This truck appraised at $16,000 by a local dealer/collector in 2011
