Started with research for another motor and realizing the mini motors are very unreliable. Basically if you have a mini you have 2 spare motors laying around.
I stumbled on someone making a kit for k swapping mini coopers but I was not willing to pay 4 grand for a kit.
So i made my own mounts...
I was given this 08 mini cooper because the engine seized on the highway. I dragged it home to scrap until the wife seen it. I was in ..... well the good books.
Yes, it took a wild turn. Apparently its the exact "dream car" she always wanted.
Got a k24 engine from an acura tsx and made...
Just seen the memorial car show banner posted over on the Facebook and had to come home to moparnuts to find out.
I know him and I did get into a few spats over the years, but he was always there when I was trying to gather information.
Wish I got the chance to meet Hugh, but our paths only...
I have been cleaning out the machine shop that I work in and selling off equipment.
Covid put the last nail into the coffin for the shop. :-(
However in between sales of machines I started to assemble the 400 stroker motor. Went with a 440 source 512 stroker kit, trickflow 240 heads, trickflow...
So i took the dakota to my towns car show. Dart would not start that day. Found out later it was the neutral safety switch on the clutch pedal.
Plan to pull the 340 and 4 speed from the dart and cram into dakota.
I have a 400 block that i plan to turn into a 512. I picked up a tr6060 from...
I was looking around and stumbled on to a vise comparison test on youtube.
So i decided to build one.
Not sure what i will use it for, but its father approved.
Likely used for pto shaft universal changes (driveshaft)general fabrication and maintenance jobs.
Either way most projects will fit.
Just finished building a finger press brake. Sold a bunch to a few guys in the area. Decided to attempt facebook groups. That seemed to go badly.
Kind of pissed me off. Everyone wants chinese and basement prices. I have 8 hours into building one. (Mostly Machining)
Due to this covid stuff everything has been chaotic for me.
I worked part time for a hosta farm during the first lockdown.
Finally had some time to tinker.
I decided to cram the v6 back into the dakota while i scrounge up big block components and save some cash.
I painted the truck myself...
Slowly working the bedsides with body fill and smoothing out.
I was given a gallon of roll on bedliner. So I rolled it on.
While I was waiting for body fill to dry and inner fender patches to cool I was curious what the hood would look like with a scoop.
I really wanted a challenger TA style...
The finger is all healed up but somedays it can be tender still.
I bought set of b body headers for $100 and put them into the dakota.
Driver side fit like a glove. Passenger side was more complicated.
Cut and lots of welding later.
Started on patch panels for the bed.
So I sand blasted the underside of the bed and coated with zero rust.
Installed bed. Now waiting for patch panels.
So i will get back to swapping the cracked dash for one in better shape.
The dash may be a waste of time since I will have to wire up everything to work without the pcm
So here is where I am at now.
I pushed the dakota on the backburner till its cooler outside to do some sandblasting. Aka winter
Have the body on the chassis and lining things up to where I want them.
As for the nailhead to a833 it's a whole nother job.
I have to custom make a spacer between...
