I put the rear bumper on
Then I went to put on the front bumper and noticed something isn't right
Those are for a 70-72 barracuda. I've never had a barracuda and never had set of those. I still have two pairs of 69 brackets, just like I remember, but I sent a pair of front brackets with...
I found a way to seal it ... the big problem was the top and outside seam that kept bulging out. After studying it for a while I made a plan to lay strip caulk on the inside of the seam, bolt the extension in place, then work the caulk from the inside into the gap between the parts.
I'm still...
It took two of us to get the dashboard to line up; the spot is marked now. Now there remains a lot of gunk on the vinyl, and SEM vinyl dye sure seems expensive, so I'm holding on that for now.
I'm trying to decide what to do about the quarter extensions. They've got an air (water) gap pretty...
When I first got this car, there was no place to bolt the dash to the kick panel. One of the first things I did once I learned how to weld was to cut a patch that had that part in it and welded it in. It wasn't the whole kick panel, but it was good enough to bolt the dash in. You can see it...
Yep, $170 and it's the later model design. I've got a couple of those but they both have ugly thumbwheels too. Half the price is the cost of assembling the dumb thing.
Actually the newer ones are simpler than the early models and wouldn't be so hard to put together but there is no new...
Yeah if it was just the corrosion I would've cleaned it up as good as possible and let it go but the thumbwheel and other dash knobs all needed to be replaced and here I am :D
Stuck again - had to disassemble the dash light dimmer to replace the thumbwheel and clean it up, and I can't get the parts back in the right place.
The problem comes trying to get the rheostat and the thumbwheel clocked correctly.
I should've marked them but TBH I couldn't see any way...
Some things are worth paying for.
I kind of had no choice - I probably could've patched the motor up and used it as it was but no way was I bolting that ugly thing in the painted engine bay.
I got my wiper motor back, and I just ordered a set of new switch knobs. Once those are here I can assemble the dash and then start looking for someone willing to install a headliner here.
Two day turnaround from receiving it to returning it. It was your typical spraybombed beat up mess to...
Man, am I ever tired of losing things
I was working on cleaning up the dash switches and noticed that I don't have a flasher switch (pre-70 is in the dash), which means I don't have any of the switches out of this dash. The ones I found are just spares collected over the years.
They're here...
You haven't lived until you've been in my Duster. It's like a freaking Ricola commercial in there. Hello, hello, hello, hello ... It's kind of fun to just sit in it and talk to myself and let the car talk back to me.
It's got all the interior in it but the heater box and dash insulation, and...
A tip - if you're going to install a heater box alone, it helps to have the windshield out so you can reach both sides of the firewall.
I realized that it's been 50 years since the car had a heater box in it.
I stuck the tail lights in even though I've still got a problem with the...
