I've found that early morning is the best time for outdoor painting. The last one I did in the driveway found me finishing the base coat around 6 AM. An hour later, the clear was dry to the touch. Aside from a few small dust nibs, the parts were almost booth-clean.

Which of Canadians or Americans Are More Willing to Go Electric?

I'll be honest: we're on the list to test drive the new VW Microbus when it comes out...

Are There Ways To Cut Back On Car Expenses?

We just bought a '21 VW Jetta. The '17 Nissan was a lease, and its' time was up. The Nissan was good on gas, though the 2.0L was a bit of a slug unless you really put your foot in it. The Jetta, though... the 1.4L turbo feels like a rocket! Even the intitial off the line feel is very peppy, and...

Only if you're using something like Acry-pol, that would put a shine on an elephant's hide! :)

Myself, with a metallic colour, I'd finish with 800.

That bites. I've had that happen more than once... frustrating. The tool is much better. I had a Wurth nutsetter kit for years, paid for itself dozens of times over just in lack of frustration.

It's just letting you know that it wasn't thrilled being away so long... ?

Heavy, medium and fine in successive coats is an accepted way to spray it if you're looking for some deep-metal look... and the finer flake tends to take away some of the grittiness of the heavy flake. Hell, it's worth a shot. I've never used a colour-keyed flake...

Keep in mind that the more film-build (primer/paint/clear layers) you have, the deeper any chips will be... Ideally, you want no more than 5 or 6 layers of MS topcoats. HS... stick to 4 max. Ever try the flake in the candy?

A wet-bed might give you some definition... worth a shot.

Yeah... you've lost any dazzle because the silver has swallowed it up. Ever try it over grey base, instead of silver? Light colours typically don't show the potential effects like darker colours, and lighter metallic colours offer too much competition between flakes, metallics and pearls. For...

Lol! You might be over-thinking it... If it can come out of the spray gun at normal spray pressure, you're good. If it's dry and the flake doesn't need hardener or thinners to work, pretty much any amount is safe. If it's flake in a suspension, as long as any required additives are used, pretty...

The formula for that silver with tinted clear was 2g of blue pearl toner off of my mixing bank. The Prismatique that I used on Whit's Cascar ride was dry flake. Large, dry flake. It mixed in with the clear really well, but it's always advisable to keep stirring/ shaking right up until you pull...

I've never seen it... I've seen the factory soft-cell stuff, but it's there for rattles & drumming, not for adhesion purposes.

Yup, sorry Rusty, didn't mean to sound like Richard Cranium... If it exerts minimal pressure on the skin, you should be good.
