1971 Challenger: The "Spare Parts" Car

Looking at either just makes me want another, Doc.

    What are you working on?

After the HVAC I took my wife hunting, she took a nice buck, first ever deer. Good size for Texas free range.

    What are you working on?

Installed my heat/AC unit. Garage is still a mess, but more comfortable to work.

Rusty's not very quiet cuda progress

I'll dig around tonight, I might have a couple boots lying around.

Rusty's not very quiet cuda progress

I ran blackwalls on my Challenger back in the mid-90s. I prefer that look so it wasn't a big deal for me. I'm not a fan of BFG radial TAs, If I remember correctly they were too hard for spirited driving. I had a set of Comp TAs, and they weren't too bad.

    What are you working on?

Going through the garage, enclosed trailer and shed to make room for stuff that has been in a storage unit for a year. Purging a lot of stuff I have lying around that I'm sure I'll never use. I found a bunch of carburetors, along with other misc parts, once I figure out what I have I'll throw it...

Rusty's not very quiet cuda progress

I had a fan like this on a 1980 Buick Regal with a 350, could hear me coming a mile away. I liked it at the time, but I also like my Uncle's friend's gear drive on a 1939 Chevy, things have changed a lot since then.

My 71 Duster work in progress

I had 4+ circular saws at one point, in my defense 2 walked off one jobsite and returned to another. Gotta love subcontractors.

    Cletus.

Yep 2wd, not sure that AX15 would hold up behind that motor for long and I only want to do it once. 🤣

    Cletus.

As far as the 410 goes, the cam is installed and it is ready to get together with the 46re and meet its new home in the Dakota. After driving Cletus a bit I miss having a manual trans vehicle to drive, so I plan on collecting the necessary pieces to convert the Dak to a T-56.

    Cletus.

Well, the big fella is done and has been listed for sale. Now it's time to deal with the tire-kickers, scammers and other such time wasters.

    Wailing & gnashing of teeth...

Yeah that's where I am, I've replaced carpets, door panels and partial seat upholstery, but I'm not the guy to hang a rear quarter panel or roof skin. I don't have an issue with a fender, hood. etc. or floor pans, maybe a rail with help, but I'm no finish guy. I'm the same with home work...

    Wailing & gnashing of teeth...

I feel a little spoiled not having to deal with tinworms anymore, granted there isn't any plastic, cloth, vinyl or leather left intact on vehicles left lying about in the sun. I'm not sure which would be worse, easier or less expensive to repair, but actual bodywork is a no from me dawg. I'd...

    Wailing & gnashing of teeth...

    It's a shame about that Challenger, I see another in the background, a '66(?) Coronet, a Duster, a late '70s NYer and what I'd guess to be a mid 70s F250 4X4.

    My R/T

My plan is to get the garage cleared out next month. I have a window unit I planned to install last fall, that should help next spring/summer.

    Cletus.

That sounds a lot like a 307 powered '72 Camaro I once owned, the falling off bit, not the fast. The guy I bought it from in 1994ish, he got it from his father-in-law that purchased it brand new. It was rust and bondo when I got it, the front subframe that had mostly rotted out was held in place...

    Cletus.

I believe Cletus is the antithesis of Christine. Every time I fix something another part fails. I got it together last week, everything in place fired it up again and there's a stream of water spraying from what is essentially a brand new radiator. No matter what I do with this truck it never...

    My R/T

Progress is slow in temps north of 105*, but the rear bolt pattern has been corrected. Presently sitting on Ford wheels I pulled from one of my trailers.

    My R/T

Went out yesterday with the intention of installing the wiring harness in Cletus and getting him fired up, Unfortunately I found the manual and automatic crank sensors are different, also found out I broke the oil sending unit, dang it! Since I was already set up to do some work, figured I'd...

    Paging Dr. Jass

I did a big yard purge last week and will continue. Nothing automotive related went away, other than the old Ram wheels, a pair of tires I was going to use on the front of the Dak and another set I snagged for the trailer I just sold. As soon as I get the Ram put back together it's gone...
