A buddy of mine gave me this old Dodge grill shell and planted the seed for this little project.
Now to sort through the antique car parts floating around here from the 3 Oaklands, the '33 Pontiac, the Maxwell, the Cord, and the '03 Olds.
I have been logging my fuel milage on every fill up on the Dart. Each repair had slightly improved the fuel economy on my daily commute with the best improvement from the wheel alignment. I knew it was toed in but 5/8"???? 😀
The 2nd biggest improvement was after the valve lash adjustment...
Jass planted the seed for this right after I bought the ol' girl. He said "If you paint the wheels body color I will give you a set of hub caps."
I responded with " Damn it!" 😀
Then he found a set of small bolt 14 x5 1/2 wheels on Craigs list for the grand total of $50.00 and the guy...
Cool car and story. I like the window sticker. The "Extra care in Engineering. It makes a difference......" provided a good chuckle for me. My untouched '73 Dodge Dart has a factory installed Plymouth steering wheel. 😀
Carb is assembled and installed. Bearings pressed and axles installed. Just need to find the loose chassis parts in the right front and waiting for the registration to show up in the mail.
Well I have more work to do. Something is loose in the right front suspension. I can feel the wheel move when I apply the brakes.
I pulled the rear axles after work tonight so I can replace the rear wheel bearings. I also pulled the carb so I can rebuild it.
